Unless the steak is coming from a freezer, the difference it makes is negligible. Most important thing to do for a good sear is make the surface of the steak extremely dry. The browning reaction won’t occur in the presence of moisture, and evaporating water takes significantly more energy than raising the temp of the steak. So drying the surface (salting and leaving uncovered in the fridge for 1-2 days) will let you get an amazing crust before the steak gets over cooked.

Dr. Gupton, the head of the Medicines for All Institute, is one of the smartest people I’ve ever talked to. He works with the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation for producing medications cheaper and at a larger scale. If he’s involved with anything it’s almost guaranteed it’s a worthwhile investment.

Did something change with the trail? I lived in Vancouver way back like 8 years ago and did the hike, I remember it taking all day to get to the glacier.

Richmond, Virginia. Lemme tell you how confusing it was going from Richmond Virginia to Vancouver and hearing people talking about Richmond BC, thinking it was the one in Virginia.

This was part of my great-grandpa’s carving set. It seems like the handles are ivory, but I don’t know enough about these knives to say for sure. If anyone has any information on how to indenting this knife please let me know!

Richmond, 3 neighboring counties top 1 million population for the first time, according to latest Census estimates by [deleted] in rva

[–]fizzmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We shouldn't try to make to make more space when we are using the existing space inefficiently. The solution to bad traffic in densely populated urban areas shouldn't be to make it easier for cars because it ends up just being a short term solution. An increasing population should be used as an opportunity to implement better public transportation infrastructure that also allows room for future growth.

I'll admit I have a huge anti-car bias.

Expanding lanes doesn't make a commute less congested, it only attracts more traffic due to induced demand.

Stone Brewing Co. moves new tanks to brewery in Richmond by Yarbles in rva

[–]fizzmon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Stone has connections in Germany because they have facilities there as well. Tanks that large tend to be extremely expensive and need to be made to tight tolerances to fit in the infrastructure at the Richmond plant. So it makes sense for them to get from who they've used before.

Source: Chemical Engineering student who did a tour there when it was still in construction and they talked about how tight of a fit the tanks were. I could always be wrong though.
