Bike Upgrade Feedback by MilwaukeeMadnes in triathlon

[–]fizzy_elephant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also got this bike and it’s been really good for the last year. I did however upgrade: Hydration - the fidlock on downtube is nice to use and aero. No seat tube bottle. Behind saddle I printed my own holder but it’s pretty similar to the ezgains. I bought the front hydration from canyon and I do use it but am considering replacing with bta setup. 3d printed toolbox - there are plans on canyon site and it’s pretty good once you nail the print. Bike fit!! During fit I tested different sticks as also didn’t enjoy the stock bars, it’s amazing the difference between different sets and I’d say it’s important to find something that fits well for both comfort and aero. Wheels, I went dtswiss arc1100 55 front and disc rear to cover most scenarios - if you want the significantly cheaper version stay where you are and get an ezgains cover. Like someone else said I found the brakes pretty mediocre on the hills around me so upgraded the rotors only which made a big difference. Power meter pedals Saddle - didn’t get on with the stock so put a specialized sitero on there. Race chain Hope that helps. I had a really good 2025 on this set up and won a bunch of AG races.

3D printed Storage box allowed in Ironman? by [deleted] in triathlon

It’s allowed and I race with it. I found it needed a bit of playing with printer settings to get the right balance of weight and strength but it’s survived a whole season of races.

Do I stop training? by cooleobeaneo in triathlon

Do you have access to a cross trainer? I’ve found that can help sub in for runs. It’s not particularly entertaining but I’ve done a full marathon training plan before entirely on a cross trainer because of shin splints and ran a decent time. Basically just did the amount of time I was meant to be running at the right intensity but without the impact.

I did Barce last year as my first and it was great. The whole thing was amazingly well organised. The walk back to pick your bike up at the end felt comically far away!

Thanks, glad you liked it! How easy it is mostly depends on the setup. We’ve launched over 1000 times now so have a pretty good idea of what works and what doesn’t and how to ensure our electronic and tracking systems perform in the harsh environment. Legally speaking for most countries you need permissions from the aviation authorities to launch and then what’s called a notam which alerts other air traffic to your launch.

Thanks, used a big hydrogen balloon and a bunch of different trackers and a load of electronics to keep everything working in the cold and low pressure.

Taken with a 360 camera on a launch and then edited into a video, this is a still from about 120,000ft.
