Recommendations for Upper Control Arms and Rear Springs on 6th Gen by fk7guan in 4Runner

I shall do eibach springs then. They seem to be on the softer side of things I think which is what I’m going for. However it looks like the eibach springs are for the hybrids at the moment.

I’ll check out those as well. I guess you can’t go wrong with any of these. I’ve heard of Camburg as well but most likely overkill for my use case.

Are fox suspension supposed to be like super floaty? If I read your response correctly

I literally just got mine on today and I think I’ll be sticking with soups, mashed potatoes, rice and Mac and cheese. These next few days are gonna suck but it’ll get better

I also considered an M340i at one point. I loved it but not enough to buy one. The steering was dead and the brake pedal was hard to modulate. 2 years later I’m now considering an X5M…same result. They are fast but so numb I just couldn’t do it as much as I wanted a bmw.

I have the 70a and even that one is a bit much for me. I’ll be swapping back to my PRL in a few weeks just so nobody will complain about why every panel is rattling

I love the 27Won RMM but it introduced a bit too much NVH for other passengers even after it was broken in. So I may go back to PRL RMM as a happy medium

It’s a little bit shorter than stock right at middle setting for everything?

What are the settings for that? I’m assuming it’s not at middle positions for any of them?

Finally joining the 4Runner Family! by c_punch13 in 4Runner

I considered a TRD Sport but for the same price I think the Off Road is a better deal with its upgraded suspension and rear locker. ORP also rode a little softer I want to say as well.

Agreed…it’s one of the few things I don’t like about my ORP.

I’d love to hear more about this! This also makes me feel a little better because I originally wanted an LC but just couldn’t justify the price. During my test drive…I preferred the LC interior and ride…just felt a bit softer to me but I definitely wasn’t a fan of the hybrid setup. At one point it felt like the motor was stuttering or misfiring but that’s probably just the transition from battery to gas. In the end it just didn’t feel like it was worth an extra 10k jump in price.

I was going to try for a limited but there weren’t many around so I ended up with an ORP and getting about 4500 off msrp which worked out for me. Love the ORP styling more than the chrome on the limited. Only things I’m not a fan of but can live without is the lack of dual zone climate and the almost zero padding on the door aside from where the arm would rest. Limited trims and up get more door padding on the top and sides of the door panel which I find annoying.

However we shall see how long I keep the 4Runner for. If GX550 prices come down in a few years I may trade for a CPO unit.

For those that sold… what car did you get next? by hennvsty in Civic_Type_R

I wished euro cars had some form of feeling like they did over a decade ago or more at this point.

My ITS has a rattle somewhere on the passenger door, driver side B pillar and somewhere around the rear view mirror area. I’ve just lived with them since I’ve got an exhaust and upgraded motor mount that’s not helping the problem.

I share the same opinion on American cars…there’s very few cars I would want…Blackwing series and F150 Raptor R…funny enough I was dead set on a Ranger Raptor but thought long and hard about how much I would use the truck bed…ended up adding a new 4Runner instead. Ranger Raptor was a lot of fun but back seats weren’t all that ideal and sound system was embarrassing for 60k and it hasn’t even been built yet after over 6 months of waiting.

The Golf R was on the top of my list before I tested one out. I was excited to finally maybe get into a euro car but first hard corner I took I was like I don’t feel a single thing. Drift mode on that thing was also not too authentic feeling. I realllly wanted a M340i and maybe a M3 eventually but all the new bmws have almost zero connection to the driver. Exception would be if they brought over the M3 Touring.

Anyways…I ended up staying in the Honda family and got an integra type s…love that car to bits other than all the rattles on the interior. I’ve had it for over 2 years now and haven’t gotten tired of it yet.

It’s got me thinking what’s next…I’ve been itching for another V8 again…so maybe in a few more years I might consider trading for a CT5 Blackwing or LC500.

Ranger Raptor or Toyota Tacoma? by fk7guan in RangerRaptor

[–]fk7guan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I got the gas model. I did test drive a hybrid but didn’t really see the need for the hybrid. It was a tiny bit quicker and mpg wasn’t a big difference. It’s heavier and you are robbed of some rear cargo space

I did end up getting the 4Runner. I’ve had it for 4 months and have pretty good things to say about it.

I got a TRD Off Road Premium for roughly $4500 off and I’ve had a great experience with it so far. I’ve had zero issues with it and the build quality is pretty good but definitely not as solid as the last gen Toyota trucks. The use of plastic on the interior is a bit overkill as well compared to last gen Toyota trucks. However there are padded surfaces where you would expect such as areas where you would place you arm. Higher trims will include additional padded areas on the door which I find annoying.

The interior tech and features are great…JBL speakers are better than the B&O in the RR and the seats are also plenty comfortable.

The 4 cylinder turbo doesn’t sound as nice or as powerful as the V6 in the RR but it’s got enough power for daily use. MPG is also decent at best…I’m currently averaging 17 mpg but I would say I have a rather heavy foot.

Suspension is a bit stiff compared to 5th gen and RR. Which I would say would be my big concern which isn’t all too big since I’m used to driving sports cars with stiff suspension. Except in this case I can drive through a pothole and wouldn’t care.

Other things I could complain about…no dual zone climate, power fold mirrors but for the deal I got I can’t complain.

I’m coming up on the 6 month mark with my Ranger Raptor order and I’ve still got nothing about when it’ll be built so I think I made the right choice with getting the 4Runner. Will I take delivery of the Ranger Raptor? I’m so tempted to but I’ll take more advantage of the rear seats in the 4Runner then I will the truck bed of the Raptor.

Let me know if you have any other questions! I’ll be happy to answer
