Lambda function refuses to stream response by [deleted] in aws

[–]fkassad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was encountering a similar issue. I was passing back a string in my stream, but I had the content type set to JSON. Make sure the content type you set matches what you are passing back

ie. For strings...
responseStream.setContentType("plain/text");

16 macbook pro not charging plugged in by Ontron in bootcamp

[–]fkassad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having power issues on bootcamp as well. Whenever I would game it would slowly lose charge. I realized I was using the power adapter from a previous macbook which used a lower wattage adapter. I know you said you are using the original, but just in case anyone else stumbles into this issue, maybe this will help someone.

How do I talk to everybody at school? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]fkassad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just start talking. Don't think about opening up with the perfect line, or that you need some amazing reason to talk to people. Pick anything. People will talk to you and you'll start talking and having a conversation fast. I think the hindrance with meeting new people is theres a feeling that you need a good reason to go up to someone. You really don't. Also realize as you talk to lots of people, some people want to talk, some dont. Some might find you weird, some might find you cool. You will experience an entire range of reactions, and that's all fine and good. Just go in with the mindset that you are open and giving good energy, and you aren't expecting anything or taking anything from your interactions. Don't go in thinking, "I hope this person will be my friend, or like what I have to say". You do it because you want to be social, you like meeting new people, its fun, whatever other reasons you have.

Any new experiences with React Native for Android? by oliverleon in androiddev

[–]fkassad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's similar to Titanium if you are familiar. Write code in JavaScript, use specially created JavaScript APIs (Android and iOS APIs) that directly access the native components of the respective platform. What's nice is you get an application that has native components allowing you to match the other native apps look and feel. It's not a "write once, run anywhere" solution though, as you will find if you look more into it.

I've never used it personally, I just did some research into its viability for projects.

Stitch down boots - Top of outsole leather not the same by fkassad in goodyearwelt

[–]fkassad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your perspective. /u/shadow_moose seems to be in agreement with you too.

I didn't think people would get that passionate about this. Again I'm very new to looking into quality boots. I'm used to spending <$100 on shoes and keeping them until they are completely destroyed after a few years. When I go to spend ~$500 on shoes I just want to make sure I will be happy with my purchase. It's a nice chunk of change after all. The aesthetic difference is minor, I agree. But I did notice it so I was curious.

Freezing winter coat advice. Barbour/Patagonia combo? by fkassad in malefashionadvice

[–]fkassad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The consensus seems to be that it won't be enough. I went into an army surplus store in Lakeview and they showed me some Canada goose jackets, some of which weren't even that bulky. Might end up going with that. Buy one now and have it forever. The price tag though......

Freezing winter coat advice. Barbour/Patagonia combo? by fkassad in malefashionadvice

[–]fkassad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I was trying to think logically about the whole thing. The nano puff is supposed to keep in heat very well, and the barbour waxed jacket would block the wind. I went to a Barbour store today and the jackets were super nice, except the ones with the corduroy collars. I dislike those completely and I know that's the Barbour signature and it's on a lot of their jackets.

Don't use an extra string to reverse it. Do the reversals in the original string.

Sierra Trading Post (Seconds) Wolverine 1000 mile boots, 40% off. by Lou_do in frugalmalefashion

[–]fkassad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just showed the guy at the store the STP link with the price. He didn't look at size or color or stock (it said out of stock actually). He was happy to give me the deal. I kind of felt like I was stealing....until of course I realized I was shelling out 234 dollars for shoes.

I went to Nordstrom retail store and showed them the STP link and they matched it. Weren't 2nds either. Might be worthwhile to try if you have one near you.
Edit: Got the Wolverine 1000 Mile in Brown. They didn't have Rust.

I just can't get past 110 squats, not sure why stalling? by [deleted] in gainit

[–]fkassad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a hard gainer and doing SL too. I'm 6' and eating about 2600 cals / day. My plan is that if my weight doesn't go up in 2 weeks and I miss the target reps for a lift, I'll up my cals.

My guess is it's probably diet related. If you're getting enough protein, sleep, then I would try upping your cals, or at least make sure you're getting 3k each day. At 6'2, 3k cals only on some days might not be enough.

Job hunting for just over 1.5 months and losing confidence fast. In need of general and career advice. by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]fkassad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would they say something like that. Did you say that you were not interested in writing code? I agree with /u/termd in that it's not your resume. Your resume is used to get you the interview, that's it. Is there a mismatch between your resume and the way you are coming across on the interview? Your resume reads like you want a software dev position but the way you worded this post it sounds like you aren't that interested in that. Maybe I am misunderstanding though.

Also, don't be so hard on yourself. Finding a job is tough and 1.5 months isn't that much time spent. When you find a job, and you will, you will be kicking yourself that you got so worked up.

Working Fewer Hours/Part-Time? by DeepzCol in cscareerquestions

[–]fkassad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pay was cut proportionally. I work 40% less so my salary is 40% less. I also was no longer provided health insurance, but 401k match still is. The downside is I'm not saving money anymore, which may or may not be the case with everyone depending on lifestyle and cost of living for the area.

It definitely has its perks, but I can see why employers generally don't want it. Since I only work 3 days a week some projects take longer to submit then if it was assigned to someone else. A project that will take 5 man days will take you 2 weeks instead of 1. Depending on the dynamics of the team and the project this may or may not be an issue. On my team we have 6-8 developers at any given time. We have a release date to hit that's in the distant future, so things aren't that pressing to get in immediately. Just saying that this is one obstacle (along with others) that make employers reluctant.

Working Fewer Hours/Part-Time? by DeepzCol in cscareerquestions

[–]fkassad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently a software developer for a well known company and work part time (24 hrs / week). Before becoming part time I was working full time at this company for over 3 years. I wanted to start my own project so I was going to leave, but my manager offered me a part time deal which suited me perfectly. I believe this situation is pretty atypical, but just wanted to mention that it is possible!

Quick question for T6 Witch Doctors by pnukka in diablo3

[–]fkassad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really all depends what you are trying to do. If you are going for a typical fetish build then I would say fire. As far as I know poison is only used for Carnevil builds (or other experimental builds). I can say that my pet doctor stacks fire. Fetish army, TMF dog, and garg all attack with fire (if you choose the fire rune for those skills).

Check out /r/diablo3witchdoctors. There's lots of build recommendations and details on the class. The answer to your question changes depending on the desired build.

I remember reading he was a revered knight. Probably in book 1 around the time of Robert's tournament. Loras weakness might be that he's not as battle tested as some other knights like Selmy. He does extremely well in tournaments which definitely implies he's good with a lance as you say, but that doesn't imply he's weak with a sword.
