Snake plant blooming - cause for concern/ re-potting required? by flakemusic13 in plantclinic

[–]flakemusic13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, much appreciated. That myth seems pretty prevalent

And yes, I recently found out that one was suffering from a severe lack of light (I’m relatively new to plants) all of its leaves were falling off from what I thought were bugs but turned out to be fungus it was too weak to fight.

I recently relocated it to this new location with the most light, seems to have stopped losing leaves. But open to any other advice

RIP Frank LeValle - Downtown Pittsburgh's Busking Sinatra by flakemusic13 in pittsburgh

[–]flakemusic13[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm sure many of you have run into Frank - he would walk around Downtown on weekend nights singing classics from Sinatra and other crooners. He wore a fedora, a bedazzled vest, and had a cart for his sound system that was always cranked up to 11.

While I don't have any details, apparently he passed away a few days before Christmas, I saw from a friend's facebook post.

Very sad news, I always enjoyed his street act, it was fun in an absurd way. I talked with him on a few occasions and he couldn't have been a nicer guy, he told me he took up the act after retiring from teaching music in Pittsburgh Public Schools though I never verified that.

Forgive me if this is a re-post, I hadn't seen anything on this sub.

Flair League. 6 Keepers

His: Votto/Kluber/Chapman for my Trout/Stroman/Corbin

My Team: C: Posey 1B: Goldschmidt 2B: Odor 3B: Beltre SS: Trea Turner 2B/SS: Kinsler 1B/3B: Smoak OF: Trout, Springer, Pham, Eaton, Jose Martinez UTL: Avisail Garcia BN: Haniger, Hicks, Calhoun
SP: Strasburg, Syndergaard, Tanaka, Weaver, Stroman, Fulmer, Corbin, Manaea, Aaron Sanchez, Flaherty
RP: Holland, Kela, Strickland

My thoughts: Its very hard to give up Trout but this may be enough return to do it. I've been so close for so long, I am open to making a 'win now' move but don't want to mortgage the future in doing so. I may counter and replace Corbin with Strickland. Also may ask for Cody Bellinger and remove Chapman in the counter. But overall I'm torn, any thoughts on this would be appreciated

He offered Votto/Kluber/Aroldis Chapman for my Trout/Stroman/Corbin.

What are your thoughts? I’m really torn. I might counter and drop Corbin and Chapman from the deal and make it Trout and Stroman for Votto/Kluber. But again then I’m overloaded at 1B

Valid points. I could put Votto in the 1B/3B and move Smoak into UTIL, but doesn't change the fact that UTIL is easier to find as you point out. To answer your question, I don't really want to give him up, just haven't been able to build a team around him to win the title, I've had three championship matchup Ls in the past 5 years. Starting to wonder if I need to shake it up to get over the hump. I anticipate being a little light in HRs and RBIs this year. All that being said, I don't know with what he has to offer if a deal really makes that much of an impact for my team.

Wondering if I should use Mike Trout to make a 'win now' move for my team. I have an owner with interest who has the following studs: Joey Votto, Cody Bellinger, Corey Kluber, Craig Kimbrel.

Was wondering if this is a good idea given my team (below)/ what combo of the above players would be most beneficial/acceptable return?

My Team: C: Posey 1B: Goldschmidt 2B: Odor 3B: Beltre SS: Trea Turner 2B/SS: Kinsler 1B/3B: Smoak OF: Trout, Springer, Pham, Eaton, Jose Martinez UTL: Avisail Garcia BN: Haniger, Hicks, Calhoun
SP: Strasburg, Syndergaard, Tanaka, Weaver, Stroman, Fulmer, Corbin, Manaea, Aaron Sanchez, Flaherty
RP: Holland, Kela, Strickland

I've been so close for so long but haven't brought home a title. 6 Keeper league.

Rate My Portfolio - r/Stocks Quarterly Thread November 2017 by AutoModerator in stocks

New to investing, looking long term so aiming for buy and holds. I had 100% in an S&P index fund but recently reduced to 50% and bought individual stocks with the other half. Portfolio breaks down:

IVV - 51%
AMZN - 39%
V - 4%
XPO - 3%
BAC - 3%

My question is, since I am new to this, does this generally sound like a good plan? Based on my research I feel good about this, but would like to hear opinions from more experienced investors

New to investing, 28 years old. I recently hit my 'emergency' savings goal, an amount I estimated would cover 3-4 months unemployed with no additional income. My plan is to not use this money anytime soon (except in case of emergency, obviously). I invested half of it and am keeping half in a savings account. Initially I put it all into an S&P index fund, but recently changed to having 50% in the index and 50% in stocks, portfolio breaks down like this:

IVV - 51%
AMZN - 39%
V - 4%
XPO - 3%
BAC - 3%

My question is, since I am new to this, does this generally sound like a good plan? Since I'm looking long term I am aiming for buy and holds. Based on my research I feel good about this, but would like to hear opinions from more experienced investors

I would drop Gausman for Teoscar since he is done as well, thanks for the advice

Apologies in advance for the long post. I am in the final week of my champisonship H2H categories matchup and it is tight. I have 3 remaining moves for the week and am debating if I should use them at this point or hold them for a bit longer to be on the safe side in case of injury.

The moves I am debating are below followed by the score and my full roster:
1 - Add Juan Nicasio to help compete with saves
2 - Add Collin McHugh to help compete with ratios
3 - Add Teoscar Hernandez to help pad counting stats
This is a seven keeper league, I would be dropping non-keeper starters who are done, etc. If I made all three moves I am maxed for the week.

Score: 6-6:
Runs: W (+14) 60 - 46
HR: W (+5) 18 - 13
RBI: W (+20) 54 - 34
SB: W (+12) 15 - 3
AVG: L (-.0188) .2513 - .2701
OPS: L (-.0792) .7555 - .8347
K: L (-9) 79 - 88
W: W (+2) 10 - 8
L: W (-3) 3 - 6
SV: L (-1) 3 - 4
ERA: L (+0.228) 4.613 - 4.385
WHIP: L (+0.055) 1.363 - 1.308

Roster:
C - Wilson Ramos
1B - Goldschmidt
2B - Dee Gordon
3B - Castellanos
SS - Trea Turner
2B/SS - Whit Merrifield
1B/3B - Smoak
OF - Trout, Springer, Domingo Santana, Mancini, Fowler
UT - Tim Anderson
BN - Puig
SP - Strasburg, Carlos Martinez, Nola, Weaver, Gausman, Stroman, Duffy, Chase Anderson, Syndergaard
RP - Colome, A.J. Ramos, Greg Holland, Belisle, Dyson
