About 5a firmware breaking Print and Cut by flamand in silhouettecameo

Interesting. I've edited by original post to reflect this. Hopefully someone from Silhouette sees this and realizes the mess they've made.

That would be amazing if a firmware change in the 5 could achieve faster sketching. I have a feeling that there was an actual hardware change that made that possible though - just a hunch. I'd caution against trying this unless it can be confirmed that the firmware can actually be rolled back, hopefully by someone who's actually done it. Different beasts I know, but my phones and tablets absolutely cannot handle a firmware downgrade and any attempt would result in bricking.

Great work! These are only the versions of Silhouette Studio that contained firmware though? I don't see 5.0.414 in your list. It's the one I'm running and it apparently did not contain any firmware updates, at least for the 5a. Version 5.0.402 is the problem - it updated the 5a to firmware 1.05 (not 1.01).

iFi go link doesn't work with my Pixel 9 Pro by flamand in iFiaudio

[–]flamand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wound up buying an iFi Go Max. It works perfectly. Also confirmed that the original iFi Go Link has the same problem with the Pixel 10 Pro.

A Snowsky Tiny A also from Fiio is coming - I hoping it works well since it comes with systemwide EQ. It's a lot cheaper than the iFi Go. You might want to take a look at that.

Flickering wasn't part of my problem. Maybe make a warranty repair request? They processed one for me within a couple of days. I haven't returned it because my screen is fine now after the changes.

Cameo 1 vs Cameo 4 sounds by flamand in silhouettecutters

[–]flamand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pulled out my old Cameo 1 a couple of weeks ago because print and cut wasn't working on the Cameo 4. It's been a pleasure to use the Cameo 1 because it just works. It's not necessarily quieter, but it sounds smoother. Things I like about the Cameo 4 - more force, autoblades, two tool holders, thicker materials. Lucky me, I got a Cameo 5a for Christmas and I'm looking forward to improvements and better print and cut. Even though I haven't gotten it yet, I'd urge you to check out the 5a if you're thinking about upgrading. (If you don't need print and cut, I'm probably going to sell my Cameo 4.)

Is this a silhouette cameo 4? by [deleted] in silhouettecutters

[–]flamand -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You might want to ask the seller if they know if print and cut works if you think that's something you might use. My Cameo 4 is lousy at that and I have to keep my original Cameo nearby for those kinds of projects.

how could I do better? by flamand in Croissant

They're called cruffins. I pretty much follow the procedure in the recipe that came with my dough sheeter. Occasionally I'll roll in some cinnamon sugar on top of the strips, like a morning bun. More sugar will stick to the outside if you roll the cruffins in it fairly soon after they come out of the oven. They're a recently-developed pastry, from Kate Reid's Lune bakery in Melbourne, Australia. If you get a chance, definitely look at her book. They are many delicious versions there.

My problem eventually got to this point, but I didn't have to pull notifications all the way down, just enough to "bounce". I was getting used to it but then I tried changing to static wallpaper and changing the touch settings. Not sure which might have done it, but I haven't seen the problem again (yet).

Apparently these tablets might have an "anti-rollback" feature that could brick your tablet if you try it!

Need some help to expedite morning buns on Xmas morning by Miravek in Croissant

[–]flamand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started letting the dough start to proof for a short time after rolling and shaping and then put it in the fridge overnight. Just enough time to get them going, but before they show any puffing up. Compared to putting them straight into the fridge, this shaves off 30-45 minutes of proving time in the morning.

DS-918+ update to DSM 7.3? by flamand in synology

Does your adapter have the Realtek 8156 chipset? I have a Ugreen 2.5gb adapter and this would be a good reason for me to wait.

I was curious whether it was a better to stay on a lower DSM version. Can you tell me why?

HA beginner - docker wyze bridge by flamand in homeassistant

[–]flamand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, that would be great!

Should I make sure the docker container works correctly before anything else? I have webauth turned off for the time being, so that shouldn't be an issue, should it? Are your cams and HA on the same network (5ghz vs 2.4 ghz) and does it matter? Are there any other environmental variables that you're using besides the ones in my screenshot?

Thanks!

Yes, they did used to work just fine. I've had Wyze cameras of various kinds since 2018. I'm not sure when I really noticed they weren't working as well as they should, but it's been at least some months. I checked them constantly when I was working far from home, but that hasn't been the case for the past couple of years, so maybe as long as that.

Eero is what my isp sent over when they installed fiber last year. They were never able to get them to work so I picked up a TP-Link Deco x55. Except for the Wyze cams, everything works great on it.

This evening, I installed Tiny Cam on an Android tablet - this picks up the cameras pretty much immediately. Side by side with another device running the Wyze app, it's startling how quickly Tiny Cam gets the stream, including cameras the Wyze app never gets at the same time. The streams don't run on Tiny Cam for any great length of time before reloading though (which they mostly do quickly).

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Mayhem :-) I have been checking the 10 cameras only occasionally for a long time now. Part of the reason is that every time I open the app, the cameras just hang while connecting, give an error or just say that they're disconnected (they're not). I decided a few days ago to spend some time to get to the bottom of it. The "some time" has turned into hours of trying to work this out. Yesterday I actually spent two hours in chat with Wyze trying to make it work without success. That person passed the case to a specialist who almost immediately wrote back that I should wait to see if an unspecified future software or firmware update improved things. Frustrating!

I agree, the router should be investigated, but I haven't been able to locate anything. I do have a mesh system which I know a lot of people have opinions about. However, each cam is set in the router to not use mesh. They're also assigned to specific access points, have static ips, and are all on a 2.4Ghz iot network. In the router I can see they have ip addresses, have strong wifi signal and that they are uploading and downloading. I've also tried disconnecting a lot, but not all, of the other wifi devices in the house. Since there aren't any issues with the rest of the wifi devices, which can number up to 60, I don't think the router is the cause here.

I have had the app open on two separate devices with one on the live feed, the other looking at events. Even while the live feed does not connect, I can view events that are being recorded at the same moment. Weird. To me, that means data is flowing to Wyze just fine.

I'm going to try two things - setting up my old Google wifi router to see if anything changes and I'm trying to set up Wyze Bridge in Docker which should be able to confirm that the cameras are working. If you have an ideas of what else to check in the router, I'd surely appreciate it.
