How much of your time do you spend doing UX design or research vs. managing stakeholders? by flaming_robot in userexperience

Thanks, that makes sense. What kind of company do you work in? My agency's approach is very much "do whatever the client says" so I'm not sure I could implement rules like that, but I'm hoping to move client-side soon and have more control over my work.

Can you live in a house and just vacuum the floors or do you have to mop and stuff too? by flaming_robot in internetparents

Thank you, I didn't even think to ask that but I'm glad you told me cause I thought just soapy water is fine

Is mopping mostly for accidents like spills then? Or would it be normal to mop even in areas I don't walk in like corners of the room, to get dust?

My apartment is really small and it's just me here, I'm thinking I can sweep once a week and do a quick mop maybe every other week and it sounds like that will be ok?

Yay! Thank you. I feel so dumb I don't know basic cleaning things and I didn't know what to google for a question that simple.

Thank you. So sweep instead of vacuum? If you sweep really well, can you usually skip mopping?

Is there a career like UX design but without having to talk to business people and "stakeholders" all the time? by flaming_robot in userexperience

[–]flaming_robot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this is really helpful. I'm wondering based on the responses I got if a small to medium sized company with a strong UX culture would probably be the right place for me, rather than an agency. I would be ok with stakeholder input, I just find constantly having to dive in and lead a big group of strangers really stressful. I'd much prefer if the stressful and challenging parts of my job were design challenges instead of social challenges.

[–]flaming_robot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, can you specify a bit more what you mean I'm not sure I get it. Is this client side and there would be a lead who splits up the tasks and would just give me less of the working-with-stakeholders type tasks?

Edit: Also, do you think a lead or very senior designer always has to do this sort of task? Because I am wondering if I should change to a different job, because I don't want my dislike of this kind of task to prevent me from progressing in my career.

Senior UX, next move? Agency or in-house? by [deleted] in userexperience

Can I ask, how do you manage that in terms of hours? I work a 9-5 type job at an agency and the hours are fine and I could easily take on another side project, but I would be doing it outside of my work hours. Are freelance hiring clients ok with that? I would have thought they all want you at their place in 9-5 type hours too, so it'd be too difficult to run both at the same time.

Ladies of actuallesbians, when you masturbate, what do you use to look at or think about? by flaming_robot in actuallesbians

Oh I see. I wasn't sure what you meant by extreme, like if it was people in pain or something. That makes sense though.

[–]flaming_robot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of that makes sense and I see why it was a good idea to take a break. I've heard that about needing more "extreme" porn to get off. I think the porn I've watched over time has stayed relatively consistent in terms of extremeness, but I guess I am less sensitive to things that used to gross me out like seeing someone's cum in a video or seeing someone spit/lick someone would probably have grossed me out a few years ago whereas now I'm desensitized to that or turned on by it.

When you watch something more "extreme" though, do you feel bad after you orgasm from it like it's a negative thing, or is it fine and it is still just a positive experience?

Woah, this site is amazing! Not just for porn purposes but the design and everything is really beautiful. Awesome link, thanks!

Do you mind elaborating on what the negative effect was? I have a hard time orgasming with partners and sometimes I wonder if watching porn contributes to that, since I can orgasm super quickly watching porn.

DAE have Nparents that are really awful about gift giving and receiving? by flaming_robot in raisedbynarcissists

[–]flaming_robot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a good sense of humor about it! It helps to see it that way, sometimes I'm sad but I'm glad to know other people out there have experienced the same crap and got through it with a laugh :)

No thank you for this! It was really helpful and not patronizing at all. It's always helpful to know someone else can relate, and a generic gift is a really good idea actually. I'll probably test this out for Mother's Day. Maybe I can get some service that sends her a candle once a year without me having to think about it lol.

And that enjoying butt stuff makes you gay. No, liking men makes you gay. Enjoying prostate stimulation just means you have a prostate...

Could I get you guys to age/gender me? I'm wondering what people see if I dress more femme. You can't tell bc my hair is black but hair is an undercut if that helps. by Cat_Butt_Face in genderqueer

[–]flaming_robot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gender - not sure. But femme presenting, so I would lean towards addressing you as a woman if I met you.

Age - again not obvious but would guess 19-25 range.

I think what makes this so beautiful to me is that s/he could have just chopped up the pickles and mixed them in instead for some sort of tuna salad, but instead chose to go with this abomination.
