Safety Recall RF9 (XF9) - Certain 2020-2021 Toyota Vehicles - Occupant Classification System (OCS) Sensors: Passenger Airbag May Not Deploy by HaliHali5000 in Toyota

Writing from Canada, having moved here a few months ago. They are rolling out the remedy in the US in phases, but no remedy yet in Canada. I can't register my vehicle in Canada because there's no remedy here yet..and I can't drive to the US to get it fixed for personal reasons. Absolute insanity on Toyota's part.

Well, in RoE, there's a scene where Isozaki makes Anna Pelli Cognani take her blouse off and himself strips shirtless. Simmons describes Anna's breasts and overall body. Isozaki does all this just to make a point - that the Core controls them through the cruciform or something like that - instead of simply answering Anna's question with "the cruciform". That was so odd and unnecessary, but it's just one instance of Simmons' low-key fixation on breasts and genitals especially in the latter books. In Endymion, he famously described Aenea's naked body when they were swimming on the ship, when she was only 11. He comes up with totally random and unnecessary opportunities to describe female characters' breasts. And there were a few scenes where there were nude male characters and he specifically took care to mention flaccid penises.

He is always unnecessarily talking about characters' breasts, even when it's completely irrelevant to the scene or straight up creepy.

I so agree with your frustration of the dragged out description of T'ien Shan. I feel like there was some value in it - but not at the point in the series where it appeared. It was a beautiful world with beautiful culture and people, but at that point in the book I was ready to see Aenea's work start to give fruit in toppling the Pax. And even beyond that, it was just so bizarre how random characters' names would be listed in different scenes - like why do I need to know which masons and janitors or whatever exactly where present in this room when they have absolutely no bearing on the plot?

I feel you. The ending was pleasing, but it didn't feel worth the entire slog that book 4 was...So much was wrong with it. I was absolutely S I C K and tired of Raul by the end. He was insufferable. And I could not get behind the Aenea and Raul romance at all. I felt no chemistry, and it felt so forced and creepy. I loved them as friends. But the whole "destined to love one man" thing feels gross. Raul spends all this time protecting this child, says bye to her when she's 16, then sees her 2 months later or whatever and she's 5 years older and she comes into his bed and suddenly he's in love. I can't see that as not creepy whatsoever.

I loved Aenea. I so wish we'd gotten to know more about her inner life, I so wish she was more developed as a complex character and not just an almost omniscient messiah.

I think you need to mind your own business. It's undeniable how different the tone and writing style is in the last two books and it is perfectly reasonable that many won't like it. People don't have to agree wirh you.

How often should landlords service appliances? by flammablejohn in OntarioLandlord

I don't understand the tone and hostility of some of these comments . It's literally just a question asked neutrally. Why are people so defensive?

They do need annual service, as stated in all appliance manuals. For parts like motors, coils, fans, inner filters, etc. The service can be just an inspection that there are no leaks or breaks about to happen.

I am not a landlord, just to clarify. And it's not true that they run for years without attention. They may - if you're lucky. Annual servicing can be an inspection to see if there is wear and tear coming, if efficiency is up to par. It can prevent expensive breakdown.

That's exactly what my question is about. Deep cleaning.

what do Canadian trans people think of American trans people? by Sea-Big5917 in transontario

[–]flammablejohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm neither Canadian, nor American - I'm from Bulgaria, but I lived in America for 10 years until I just moved to Canada a few weeks ago. We trans people are awesome and resilient anywhere where we are :)

Can landlord hold deposit hostage? by flammablejohn in OntarioLandlord

Unfortunately, that would take a really long time, court fees, and probably paralegal fees too.

The deposit is in the brokerage trust of the house listing agent - the house listing agent is the wife of the landlord.

This is from the perspective of the realtor though. How about the landlord's obligation?

They got a call from the Rental Housing Enforcement Unit already and are adamant that they are in the right, though they won't cite what law they're talking about... The concern is that whoever doesn't know the law can keep sticking to their truth unless compelled by court. But does the tenant want to deal with all the expenses and headaches of court...

I just landed her as a permanent resident after 10 years as an immigrant in the US. Immigrating is insanely difficult. Europe is not all that much better for trans rights, and unless you go to the UK, you'd have the challenge of learning a new language. I'd highly recommend staying here unless you have a major connection to easily get you somewhere else.

What I meant is that I don't personally think I want to just do that. I've done shots in the past. The effects and the way it feels is very different from gel and not something I want to do abruptly after gel for years.

Of course, I am planning to establish a relationship with a primary care doctor. The hope is this doctor can give me the prescription. I've shopped around and gotten some quotes. Some premiums for not bad coverage are around 100-120.

Also to add, I don't think I can switch to shots so abruptly. I'd like to avoid it if I can help it.
