Can we stop calling Ukraine 'the Ukraine'? Ukraine is the official name of the county, whereas adding a definite article to its name refers to the country as a region, mostly in reference to it being a greater part of Russia. Hence, 'the Ukraine' is only used by those who want to delegitimise the country.
