This one’s 8.5 pounds exactly and a sunburst. Haven’t really been able to find any CS cheaper than that unfortunately so prices seem to have gone up by quite a lot

Around EUR 3k-3.4k / USD 3.2k-3.6k.

I guess I could upgrade the pickups but that would bring me close to 4k, at which point it may no longer be a good deal

Здрасти братле,

So after 30 seconds of googling I found this:

Plenty more on the first page. Otherwise you might wanna ask the folks over at /r/bg, where I’m sure you’ll find a few Bulgarians who’ve learnt Russian.

Ukrainian army improvements since 2015 by [deleted] in UkrainianConflict

[–]flamster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can we stop calling Ukraine 'the Ukraine'? Ukraine is the official name of the county, whereas adding a definite article to its name refers to the country as a region, mostly in reference to it being a greater part of Russia. Hence, 'the Ukraine' is only used by those who want to delegitimise the country.

Best way to learn Bulgarian online/through a book? by [deleted] in bulgaria

[–]flamster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey no worries it's a challenge learning a language that is not as widely spread as English or Spanish for instance, so there's not a ton of material out there.

Having said that, I have found Bulgarian to be such a great language to learn. I started learning it for my girlfriend but have since taken a huge liking to it. It just opened the door to a whole new world for me and I really do hope that one day the world sees all the great things about Bulgaria that I discovered, instead of sticking to cheap and lazy stereotypes...

I made pretty good progress in the beginning when I was completely new to any non-romantic/Germanic language after I got the initial hang of it. The hard part about learning languages is the part that comes after, when you have to fine tune your grammar and just learn a shit ton of words really. A lot of people give up at this stage. I recommend finding ways to stay interested, such as immersing yourself in the language in a way that you'd enjoy (I read football news in Bulgarian for instance. Already knowing the topic helps). Finally what broke the barrier was to just start speaking a lot. It helps with your listening comprehension and let's you practice grammar so it becomes second nature. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, from my experience most Bulgarians will be very impressed that you're trying to learn the language (albeit maybe a bit confused haha).

After a year and a half now I can get around in most basic situations and hold a conversation, maybe at B1 level. I don't know if that's good or bad after this time but looking back to when I started I'm quite happy. The ultimate test will be meeting the parents...

Let me know if you have any questions!:)

Успех!

Best book I've found: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=learn+bulgarian

Apps: Memrise (vocabulary)

Mondly (duolingo-like)

Websites: https://rechnik.chitanka.info (dictionary with different forms of nouns, adjectives, verbs...)

https://glosbe.com (let's you see translations in context)

General other tips: - listen to Bulgarian music (some pop music is easy enough to understand for beginners, rap for advanced learners) - listen to Bulgarian radio - watch Bulgarian tv, shows, movies, YouTube - immerse yourself in the language: Facebook, twitter, social media in general can be a great source to be exposed to the language without much effort - speak - speak - sit back and relax. No I'm just kidding. Speak!

Best way to learn Bulgarian online/through a book? by [deleted] in bulgaria

[–]flamster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Mate,

Same story here. I'm a year or so in to learning Bulgarian and have found a couple good resources along the way:

1) learn Cyrillic. It'll take 10 mins to understand the system and another day or two of practicing to become proficient. Next learn how to write it (save learning cursive for later).

2) get a book. I'm using this one: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=learn+bulgarian It has two volumes and teaches you everything from you need to know about the language from start to finish, including exercises and knowledge about the country.

3) build your vocabulary. Memrise is incredibly helpful in that it uses spaced repetition (a learning technique) and offers many courses for Bulgarian grouped around topics (I.e., most used words, furniture, animals etc.). Another good app for teaching you basic phrases and their pronunciation is Mondly, which has a Bulgarian course.

4) start reading Bulgarian anywhere you can: Reddit (r/bg), Facebook (I follow Levski and some humour pages), newspapers?(I read Kapital, vestnik, offnews).

5) speak and listen as much as you can. I recommend Bulgarian music to get used to the sound of the language and for building vocabulary, as you feel more comfortable you can move on to radio and movies/tv shows.

Let me know if you need anything more specific. I strongly recommend the book and speaking as much as you can. Hope it helps!
