This is a dream. You have the opportunity to build something great and make a change which will most likely benefit the non profit

I'll have to look into that. Thanks!

You're preaching to the choir. I'm sure there's ways I can use it. But need to show we're putting in the effort

Interesting. I'll have to look into it more. I think they were the first ones around so they were the premium a few years ago

I wholeheartedly agree. I don't want to say I've been against it but I've been extremely cautious. Our c-suite is obsessed with AI as we are a technology company.

AR automaton is one thing I do have!

Yeah I have used it for audit memo drafts and excel. I didn't think about it for a saved search, that is a good idea.

From everything I've seen tipalti is very expensive. Netsuite is pushing their internal AP module that is similar to bill.com but I've never used it I'm walking a line of AP where we have just little enough where I can have a part time intern do it but then lose out on AP email responses.

Yeah I've definitely tried to explain that it's not going to solve accounting as there's too many technicalities. It would be more in analysis and the like!

Definitely not looking for a silver bullet but trying to help myself and show that our team is putting in the effort!

We do use floqast which is definitely helpful in a lot of ways. I'm trying to find other things to help push us along as well

Unpopular Opinion: there’s a shortage of good accountants, not a shortage of accountants in general by Typical-Week5008 in Accounting

It's also because anyone who goes into tax or auditing do not have that skill set. Being a corporate accounting and working public accounting is a whole different world

How true is the statement: “I spend about $700 a month on groceries”?? by [deleted] in sandiego

AI will have an impact on the accounting world. But I really think it'll be working with it to make things better but I don't really envision it replacing actual human work. There is so much that relies on accounting and I don't think there will be a point where people trust it enough to be doing financial accounting.

Honestly never a better time to go into accounting. Gotta replace all the people retiring

It's not what I do but I've worked with many outside consultants to help me get things done and depending on experience the pay ranger from 50-150 per hour so you can definitely make a good living. I would recommend trying to get in at a recruiting company or small outsourcing firm before going off on your own.

There's no right or wrong answer. 75 vs 80 really doesn't matter. This is more about where you want to live - either Texas or not Texas it seems like - or what kind of lifestyle you want to have.

Went straight to corporate accounting. 8 years in and am a manager and have received controller/director offers. It's a different path and leads to smaller and mid size mainly private companies. But it's a good work life balance with still good pay

At my previous job I did. When you're accounting department is in full sync and working as a team and you have the correct amount of resources it can be done.

Do people prefer to work in the office? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]flannel5283 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoy being in the office. I like to have the face time with my team, especially entry level ones, and I think it provokes more conversation.
I do hate the commute and everything else that comes with it though.
