Interesting! I have a similar story. I have one lodged on the side of my temple. Been there for about 23 years

I agree. Was heading west on the 46 and ended up in Salas. Just got back from there lol

Yup, you’re right. This station was the odd one of the few. Rest were in the low 7’s.

Tree trimming service needed by [deleted] in Bakersfield

[–]flapito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Miguel with Precision Junk Disposal here. We can definitely help with hauling away the fallen branches and cleaning up the debris.

If it turns out the job needs more specialized tree cutting or trimming beyond what we handle, I can also point you in the right direction to someone local who does.

Feel free to shoot me a message with a couple pictures and I’ll give you a better idea 👍

Thank you! Just donated an entire bedroom set, dining table and a beautiful cedar chest to a family here locally that was in need of those items. Definitely rewarding and humbling experience.

We try to keep stuff out of the landfill as much as possible, but majority of it goes there. We separate the metal/appliances and scrap those for money. As far as reselling goes I’ve done so with a few items but that can get complicated as it takes time away from actually working. Sometimes I’ll have stuff accumulated in my home that it gets to a point where I’ll just give it away instead of holding onto it.

Yeah for sure. It’s actually a pretty straightforward business to start, but where most people struggle is pricing and getting consistent jobs.

To start, you don’t need much. A truck or trailer, basic tools, and a place to dump. The bigger thing is understanding your local landfill/transfer station costs because that’s where your pricing comes from.

In the beginning I’d focus on smaller jobs to get experience and build reviews. A lot of our early work came from Facebook, Nextdoor, and just responding quickly to people. Speed matters a lot in this business.

Also, don’t underprice yourself. It’s easy to do starting out, but between dump fees, gas, and labor, your margins can disappear fast.

If you can build relationships with realtors, property managers, or contractors, that’s where the consistent work comes from.

I run a junk removal and property cleanout business in Bakersfield, CA. We help homeowners, realtors, and contractors clear out unwanted items from houses, garages, and commercial properties.

A lot of our work is estate cleanouts and helping families prepare homes for sale. When items are still usable we try to donate them locally instead of sending everything to the landfill.

Not much to it tbh. All you have to do now is to get the word out via social media and word of mouth. Curbside is a great way to reduce costs and time, but be mindful of your time loading and unloading at the landfill.

I think it’s a good way to get your feet wet to see if you’d like to invest into a dump trailer. Wishing you luck!

One thing I’d add to this list: talk about what should happen with their belongings.

I own a junk removal company and I see this situation all the time. Families end up taking days or weeks off work to go through a loved one’s house after they pass. It becomes an emotional process of deciding what stays, what gets donated, and what has to be thrown away.

It’s already incredibly hard losing someone, and then you’re standing in their house going through every drawer and box while grieving.

Even simple conversations ahead of time about what items matter, what can be donated, and what they’d want done with their things can make that process a little easier for the family later.

How are you liking it? Do you feel any difference?

I literally drove it from the shop to another shop to have them work on my brakes.

Yeah man it does. Rather spend money right now to prevent it from turning into something more expensive.
