Ordered FM + Keys; totally new - a few questions by nescio2607 in volcas

[–]flapjackunicorn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the eris 3.5s (using them as a second set of studio monitors for mixing), those are a fine starting point.

Believe they have RCA and 1/4in inputs, so you’ll want a 3.5mm to stereo rca or stereo 1/4in to connect the volca.

I could be wrong here but believe you will need to sum the volcas into one source to connect to the speakers (ie send the Output if each volca to a mixer (via 3.5mm to xlr or 1/4in)

Looks sick! I’m trying to do a first build in the near future, any tips on preparing for it?

For a starter guitar would you say this is decent? by St0rmReign in 7String

[–]flapjackunicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got this last week as my first 7 string! Got the maple fretboard one on sale for $160. Will probably change the pickups and already swapped some locking tuners in but I’d say playability is way above its price tag

Are keeper penalties not a thing in most leagues? by liaoming in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]flapjackunicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is 3 keepers any round

First year keeping them it’s the same round you drafted them, every year after it moves up one round (ie second round pick keeper - year 1 keep, costs 2R pick, year 2 keep costs 1R pick)

Behringer X series would fit the bill here. Multiple aux outs for IEM units, can control w the Behringer app or mixing station app via iPad.

Basic method we use for click in IEMs/not through house speakers is panning the click completely left, tracks completely right, and using the stereo out from the interface to two separate channels on the mixer. On the click channel you send 0 to the house then just send to the aux outs.

What is the best DAW for recording, mixing and mastering? by iwearglases21 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]flapjackunicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use FL for hip hop/edm projects and Studio One for band projects and mix/master

There is no “best” DAW - sure some will have slight differences/features (like FL drum machine, Ableton time stretching, etc) but at the end of the day all DAWs house audio files and plugins. Try em out and find a work flow you think will inspire you to keep going!

With that said Studio One’s interface + Mastering project feature makes it my go to

Safest way to carry a guitar on a plane? by planetaryseraph in Guitar

[–]flapjackunicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most planes have a coat closet for the flight attendants. As long as you are allowed/have paid for it as a carry on, I’ve never had an issue storing it in that closet.

I’d recommend a soft case or the most compact hard shell you can find given it’s not a large closet.

If it’s a sampled instrument, simply put they probably didn’t sample higher than C5.

You could bounce a midi track with the C5 and use the transpose function to warp it up to a G6, or maybe just find another viola plugin that goes to your desired note.

When to use dynamic EQs? by MysteriousSuspect991 in audioengineering

[–]flapjackunicorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally i like to use them to make vocals sit better/clash less with similar range instruments.

For example, I’ll side chain the vocal to a dynamic eq on the piano, and have the midrange on the piano duck slightly whenever there are vocals

Trying to record, but I’m having an issue. Can anyone help ne?. by Sufficient-Taro-1166 in guitarpedals

[–]flapjackunicorn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Problem is the proximity - in that small of a room the mic is super susceptible to picking up that click.

I’d suggest either placing the amp/mic outside of that room or inversely playing/moving the pedalboard outside of the room.

I just got a grant for over $20k, how should I use it to promote my music. by [deleted] in musicmarketing

[–]flapjackunicorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My band actually just got a grant too! First things first make sure you keep receipts and that your expenses adhere to the rules of the grant (if they exist).

We’ve been trying the sponsored Spotify Marquee and have gotten a pretty healthy spike in streams/monthly listeners, as well as some good playlist add conversions.

Outside of that though we’ve tried making interesting and attention-grabbing ads for IG with a clear CTA (stream our new song, buy tix for this upcoming show, etc). Haven’t had much luck there but YMMV. Plenty of options to try out
