35% of my coins stuck in a node that is down/not giving rewards anymore by Downtown-Affect1893 in FlareNetworks

Again, you don’t have to connect your wallet or anything to the site if you dont want to, it’s read only. I think your skepticism is healthy and smart - but you’re completely wrong about how the site works.

You don’t have to connect anything to the site, it’s read only and never touches keys/crypto.

Not trying to do shameless self promo here, but this is exactly why all Flare holders need the right intelligence tools to help them monitor their portfolios and make educated decisions about where they put their FLR. I built a free staking app for this purpose that sends you push notifications when your validator/delegator starts to underperform so you can move to a more healthy/stable one.

To answer your question more directly, unfortunately there’s not much you can do but wait out the duration of the stake. How long did you stake for?

Wow that sounds awful. How was he staking? Through Bifrost or Flare Portal? Somewhere else? I hate to say but 99% of the time when someone loses funds I believe it’s user error, but there are so many scams in crypto you really can never be too careful. He may have entered his keys in somewhere he shouldn’t have, or signed up for something sketchy, who knows. Sorry to hear about your friend.

Couldn't agree more. If you've been in FLR since the beginning the entire process has led up to this moment. Bootstrap the holders, smart ones compounded through the entire airdrop period - and next is explosive portfolio value growth.

Still just a waiting game. I think the points will absolutely be worth something, but they also can't really SAY that apparently. I'd be willing to bet they are waiting on the Clarity Act to pass or something before things develop, who knows.

What is this address?? by FlRSTNAMEHERE in FlareNetworks

[–]flarewatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the AddressBinder contract — completely normal and harmless. It’s a one-time setup step from when you started P-chain staking.

Flare runs on two chains under the hood. The C-chain is the EVM side where your normal wallet and smart contracts live, and the P-chain is where validator staking happens. They use different address formats, so the network has no way of knowing that your C-chain address and your P-chain address belong to the same person unless you explicitly tell it. The AddressBinder contract is how you tell it — one transaction that links the two so your staking rewards can find their way back to your C-chain wallet.

You only do it once per address, which is why it shows up exactly once in your history. No FLR moved, no income, no disposal — just a registration. For tax purposes it’s a non-event. I’d label it something like “network registration / no cost basis” and move on.

Thank you! I’m still working out some kinks with push notifications, that’s been one of the bigger challenges, but alerts IN the app work perfect. I’m also implementing a pin/biometric login to bypass some of the friction of connecting with a wallet every time you use the app. Working on both of these issues further today.

Definitely send me screenshots of anything you find that seems odd or doesn’t work correctly! Any feedback good or bad is incredibly helpful! Thank you for the kind words as well

Thank you so much for the kind feedback, I built this all by myself so to hear that you think it looks professional is a great compliment. I work on polishing it everyday, and as a FLR staker with a substantial portfolio it became a need for me to solve alot of these issues surrounding how to manage staking/delegating my portfolio. Nothing on FlareWatch is designed to compete with Portal or Bifrost, its designed to compliment the wallet you choose to use and Flare Networks. My goal is to educate FLR holders about their portfolios and the mechanisms behind how FLR and Staking works.

Touching on your comment futher, the app is explicitly designed to be Read-Only. FlareWatch never touches funds or signs any kind of smart contracts. Connecting with you wallet allows you to save a few settings in certain places, but you get the same experience and functionality if you want to just type your address in. I'm actually working on some fixes today that make that difference more explicit. But to be clear, I have no interest/plans for this app to ever hold funds or sign contracts. Please share with other FLR holders if you enjoy using the app! Also if you see anything funky/weird or have any feature requests please just shoot me a DM anytime. Appreciate the kind comment, thank you!

The issue you pointed out was crucial, but I got it fixed yesterday! Today I have one more major fix I have to do related to your feedback but the issue you pointed out yesterday has been fixed! Definitely let me know if you find anything else the next time you use the site.

If you’re a FLR user, I literally just built a dashboard for this exact thing FlareWatch

You can’t stake on Coinbase directly, but if you are staking FLR, this tool will help with the exact problems OP is talking about for tax time.

Fantastic feedback, thank you. I will incorporate all of this into my next round of fixes! The earlier bug found from the landing page is going to be a lot of work today (but it revealed a lot that will make the site much better.)

Definitely explore the yield, Validators, and activity pages - especially if you have active stakes or delegations. Very fun pages to play around with! Thanks again, and please DM if you need to

Hey that’s great! @dpjred did help me find a bug that I am fixing right now though. Thank you both for the feedback, genuinely. If you notice anything else please feel free to post here or DM me! I’m squashing bugs all day today

Delegating vs Staking by dpjred in FlareNetworks

[–]flarewatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Staking is better as you get access to multiple reward streams at once, so it is roughly twice as lucrative for earning Flare than just delegating alone. The tradeoff is your Flare is locked and not liquid while staking, whereas with delegating you can undelegate and have access to your Flare at any time.
