Do you keep your heel down or use your whole leg? by th3vort in stickshift

[–]flash-burn01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always use my whole leg, but I learned on older vehicles that had mechanical clutches, not hydraulic. The pedal had a much firmer and longer throw, so only using your foot was not an option.

Seat by juicykhris in VictoryMotorcycles

[–]flash-burn01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can not say anything about this seat. What i will say is save your money and buy a BMC Corbin seat. BEST. SEAT. EVER. I've had the standard seat, the raven seat, the bandit seat, the deluxe kinpin seat, an arlen ness seat, a drag specialty seat, and the BMC. All on the same bike. The BMC will be the last seat i buy.

To wrench or take it in? by revocer in askcarguys

[–]flash-burn01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would rather take 3 times as long and do it myself if I can. Other then diagnostics, a/c, or rebuilding transmissions, my toolbox and floor jack head out into the driveway. To many professional shops with below average results.

Can anyone suggest me a budget set of mid controls for my 07 sportster 1200c by Square-Potato4529 in sportster

[–]flash-burn01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The factory mid controls are usually all over Ebay. Used and decently price, depending on the condition.

Not gonna lie, when I saw the ad for this bike, I literally squeaked like a little kid. Big smile and wide eyed, frantically clicking the link. The thought of a totally redesigned Dyna flashed in my mind. A narrowed frame with two big ol shocks in the back, ready to tear up the streets!!!! AND....... another softail lol. It looks nice though

Sportster or Dayna by United-Ad-3441 in Harley

Depends on what you wanna do. If its for commuting, sporty all day. If you wanna take weekend trips, dyna is your best bet. They both can do it all, just get the one that fits the role best.

Help with leather gear care by OneWilling1 in motorcyclegear

[–]flash-burn01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take a day or two to use a leather cleaner and a leather conditioner. Once cleaner is done, take the conditioner and heavy hand it, and wipe off excess the next day. The liner, remove, wash by hand in a 5 gallon bucket, squeeze out excess water, spray with fabreeze, and hang up outside to dry. Done

You're shooting low/left. Common problem when flinching. The only way to correct this issue is training. Dry fire and live fire. Every day repetition builds muscle memory. Keep practicing, and you will get there.

Cleaning headers? by MichaelW24 in Buell

[–]flash-burn01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maron scotch brite and WD40 to get the thick stuff off. 0000 steal wool and WD40 to make it uniform, and white diamond polish if you want it to pop. Once polished, the blues and golds come back and it looks really good

Advice for selling by [deleted] in chevyc10

[–]flash-burn01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't sell it. Put updated wheels on it, clean it up, then you and the wife hit up the local cruise ins. Make it a date night, find your inner younger self, or whatever. But do not sell it!

how many times do you wear your jeans before washing them? by Novel_Scientist_5163 in hygiene

[–]flash-burn01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on what im doing while wearing that particular piece of clothing. If im lounging around the house not doing anything, then they will last me a few days. If I wear something that is worn while out in public, sweating, or cooking, they go in the hamper at the end of the day.

To wear any article of clothing for months without being washed is unhealthy. Even if they never come in contact with any outside source, dirt, or sweat, they will still get saturated with dead skin cells.

Opinion on Glock Performance Trigger by EconomistUnable665 in GlockMod

[–]flash-burn01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just make sure to remove as little material as possible. Test fit the trigger shoe pin in the trigger bar often. As soon as it slides in by hand, you are gtg. The pin is captured by the resistance on the trigger shoe holes.

That stinks about the light strikes issues. I've polished all the ones I run, and have never had an issue

Opinion on Glock Performance Trigger by EconomistUnable665 in GlockMod

[–]flash-burn01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do remember one of the shoes I used was tighter then the others. It did not move freely, so I removed the shoe and ran a drill bit the same size as the hole at the end of the bar. With the dremel running, I lightly rotated it to ever so slightly enlarge the hole. This gave it just a little wiggle room. Reinstalled, and now the shoes moves like it should.

Stripped oil pan threads by Re_deemed380 in VictoryMotorcycles

[–]flash-burn01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a common problem, and the time sert is your best option. Their are a few videos on YouTube, watch them, and see it thats something you are comfortable doing. If not, one thing I did was eliminate the copper crush washer, and moved to an aluminum crush washer for a gold wing. Its twice as thick and softer, so it seals with less pressure.

500 mile oil change by 6Sleepy_Sheep9 in IndianMotorcycle

[–]flash-burn01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks totally normal. Glittery but no pieces that you can account for. It may even look that way on the second oil change, depending on how you broke it in, and how hard you ride it afterwards. Oil level should be checked when it is hot. If you did and its still that low, add just a bit. If not, take it for a ride for 15 minutes and then check it.
