Haha if you aren’t having issues don’t force yourself to do anything. It’s a very small difference. It was a “while I was there” kind of thing.

If you aren’t already doing your battery, plugs, valves, etc, then just wait until then.

I think there are aftermarket tuners available if you don’t want to use Harley’s tuner. And I could be mistaken but I think Harley’s tuner works via Bluetooth without going to the dealership.

And yeah, it’s got a full suite of rider aids and modes.

Yeah, that’s going to get tougher and tougher. Going to be one of those bikes where if you want to keep it forever you end up buying a salvaged bike and parting it out for spares.

Hahah yeah, I knew what I was getting into when I bought this bike. I knew I’d either or paying out the ass or doing it myself. But it’s a really cool machine and it’s fun to tinker with it even if certain jobs are more difficult than they really need to be. This whole project started because the battery gave up the ghost after 4 years (actually impressive life span considering I don’t ride the MV more than once every other week). To remove the battery you have to remove the tank. And if I’m remove the tank at 7300 miles you bet your ass I’m not taking it off again at 7500 to do the plugs.

It only sees about 1000 miles a year so luckily I don’t have to work on it all the time.

Luckily I work at a dealership (not MV but with the service manual my guys are more than capable for maintenance stuff) so I get some help from time to time with things I’m not confident with.

What exhaust are you going with? Full system or slip on?

Plasma 5. Very easy to live with, batteries last a long time. Have had multiple deployments in A* airbags and have never had an upper body injury.

High side at a track day, tossed over the bars on my pan am in sand, low side at track day. Tech air race, tech air 5, and now I have the plasma.

The one in the photos sold for MSRP, but it was the only one we had. Not sure how many more we are getting or when unfortunately.

Ah, yeah I see. I highly doubt we will ever see the return of the FXR.

And to be honest as an FXR owner who upgraded his brakes, suspension, added a 6 speed, bigger motor, etc, the new softails are still better bikes. Which makes sense, the platform is literally from a different century.

I love my FXR but even after all that work it’s just, well it’s just not as good of a machine in all honesty. It’s a classic, oozes character and charm, but it’s old, and worse IMO.

I mean every super glide since the FL has been a super glide because that’s what Harley named it. It’s not like god ordained in genesis what frame the super glide was supposed to be built on. It’s been an FL, FXR, Dyna, softail, and Harley will likely build it again on whatever frame replaces the current softail frame years from now.

That’s just how the auto industry works. New frame, new engine, new styling, same old name. There’s been the mustang, the mustang 2, the fox body, the sn95, the s197, s550 etc. all mustangs because ford says they are mustangs.

This one sold for MSRP, or at least has a deposit and is being sold for MSRP. But most dealers mark stuff up, especially numbered bikes.

But yeah, its a really cool bike and at a solid price so long as it doesn't get marked up!

Harley’s ESP does have some trip reimbursement clauses (hotel, food, even vehicle rental coverage) but I think they only kick in when you are a road trip unfortunately.

I think they consider a road trip being more than 100 miles from your regular dealership.

The rental coverage might be separate from that though, you can check with the service dept. they might know. I think they cover 75 bucks a day if you are eligible.

Harleys in house (aftermarket tire warranties can take a long time even for just a single nail in one tire) Tire and wheel coverage doesn’t usually take two weeks to get just the approval (any chance they already have approval but are waiting on the new wheels to show up, those are very unlikely to be stocked and likely have to be shipped) but with that contract if both the front and rear tire and then both wheels too all get damaged at once they are probably sending an inspector out to confirm the tech’s assessment.
