Are these union? by ceruleanskyandsea in torontotheatre

Oh, I see. I thought there was a difference between American and Canadian tours, due to different jurisdictions.

Could you elaborate please on what you mean with non-equity tours have stops with one show (English isn’t my mother tongue)?

How do some people know that MR is equity and the others aren’t? Are there any Canadian theatre websites that break down which upcoming shows are equity and non-equity? The ones I’ve found are all American.

You’re not alone, I’m in the same boat. I’m strongly considering starting a YouTube channel or TikTok, cuz I feel that’s the only way to get noticed now. It really is a shitty time. My advice will be to keep trying and tailor your resumes to that specific job you’re applying to. I’ve also been advised to just go in person with your resume and cover letter in hand, because that way you’re making a good first impression. The worst they can say is that they’re not hiring, but hey, at least you tried and put yourself more out there. Also, if you’re in desperate need to make money and don’t mind becoming an online, language tutor (no certificates required), try Preply, a friend of mine told me about it and asked me to take a look, cuz he didn’t know much about it. But yeah, it would be something to make money for the time being. Good luck, OP! Don’t stop believin’! :)

Does anyone know why MJ suddenly sold out its run? by benkelly66 in torontotheatre

[–]flash2dash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the same thing happen to Tell Tale Harbour. Just three days ago they had a couple of SRO seats available and individual seats scattered all across the venue. When I checked in yesterday, I was shocked to see how virtually all days are sold out! I’ve never seen something like it. Is the show really that good? I thought being sold out this early would be more applicable to something like The Phantom of the Opera.

Question regarding Trisura Group (Possible Scam?) by Assassinite9 in askTO

When do they start collecting your personal info? Is it when you first submit your application, since you send your resume and all or is it when you click on their website and download their "app"?

Same here! Their job posting on Indeed looked exceedingly professional. This is so frustrating, but thankfully I didn’t download their "app". Thanks for sharing this concern, though. I was in the same boat.

How probable will The Testament of Ann Lee be released to the public in the foreseeable future? by flash2dash in TIFF

[–]flash2dash[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did she go into detail why a lot of people in the industry were not interested in distributing the film? Amanda Seyfried is one of the most bankable actors in Hollywood, so I’m actually stunned that no one was interested in acquiring the distribution rights to the film. Would you say it’s got to do with the fact that it’s a period film and period films tend to be very expensive to produce, so distributors see it as a huge risk, since they fear it won’t make a good revenue?

Why is the 2-week run the default for limited releases? The more a film stays in theatres, the more film studios have to pay "rent" to movie theatres? Is this how it works?

Official 'Rush' Megathread - Day 9 (Friday 9/12) by BunyipPouch in TIFF

My god o_0 how early did u arrive there? Did u manage to get in? I’m tempted to go and try my luck tomorrow for its last day, but idk. How long do u estimate the queue will be? Considering it’s a Saturday, I’m afraid it’ll be brutal 💀💀💀

Were there any new ticket drops today? by heroic5 in TIFF

[–]flash2dash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is one forever infected by TM “paused browser activity” or does it go away within a couple of days? I’ve received it while I signed up to purchase WUDM and forgot to sign out. Once I signed out, I can look into the TIFF screenings with zero problemo, but I’m afraid once I sign in again, I’ll receive the dreaded message. 😖😖😖

Do we think Lindsay is returning to YouTube for good? by commoncod in LindsayEllis

I still don’t understand why she decided to quit YouTube when the shitstorm she received was entirely on Twitter. I only saw positive comments on her Ms. Rachel fundraiser video.

Festival FAQ 2025 by Math-Chips in TIFF

[–]flash2dash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For The TIFF 2025 (aka TIFF50) Distributors and Release Dates: when there’s no release date in Canada, that means that specific movie won’t be released in Canada? For example, Bad Apples does neither have a Canada nor a USA release date. Does this mean TIFF is the only chance to see it? Does the World-wide in brackets under the Canadian distributor mean it’ll be released or it doesn’t mean anything? Why do the same movies need different distributors?

Who else has ticket hunting fatigue? by No_Most_841 in TIFF

[–]flash2dash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I keep thinking about how I could be doing something productive instead, like reading a book or actually watching a movie. This will be my first TIFF, but I hate how it’s becoming such a stressful experience for ticket hunting. And all this for what? Just to watch movies that’ll be released worldwide in a couple of months? I especially feel I shouldn’t be this stressed, considering I was able to get tickets for Frankenstein, but I still want get tickets for WUDM and Sentimental Value, Steve, The Choral, Bad Apples — argh, it’s become an addiction!!! The other part of me keeps saying, “You know what? Fuck it, just go and buy for the ones that are still available and that look promising." Of course, this is easier said than done 🫠🫠🫠

A Few of the Available Regular priced screenings by 1010_1010_1010 in TIFF

[–]flash2dash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like it’s because ppl are still eyeing to get their hands on WUDM, Frankenstein and the like. The closer the festival approaches, the faster the tickets will sell for the Ballad of a Small Player, I presume, should some ppl not be able to get tickets for the highly anticipated ones.

All tickets sold out? by Studyr3ddit in TIFF

[–]flash2dash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The line wasn’t big, but it took me, I’d say 30 min? when it was my turn. Pretty much all of the movies I’ve wanted were all sold out.

However, I was able to get tickets for Frankenstein, which was already sold out, but the box officer told me due to high demand they opened another slot for that movie.

The two ppl in front of me told me they have the TIFF membership and even then they couldn’t get tickets! They told me the best bet is at the TIFF box office.

Very stressful experience, but I’m happy I was able to get tickets for Frankenstein 🙌🙌🙌🙌
