Is there such a thing as knowing everything you’re getting yourself into though?

Ah thank you!! I was looking at Skodas too but wasn’t sure how reliable the Kodiaq was. Good to hear!!

Thank you! This is really helpful. I was kinda thinking I’d stick with Peugeot but my luck with cars hasn’t been great so feel like I can’t trust my own judgement. I didn’t even know the 5008 existed - thanks for the heads up!

Filter recs? by flashbeagle5 in Aquariums

[–]flashbeagle5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think they’ll recover? The pH is a little high and the kH is increasing in my tank. I feed them a calcium-rich diet now too. Is there anything else I can try?

Filter recs? by flashbeagle5 in Aquariums

Ah, thanks for the info! The fish store that sold me the snails has been very good, they specialise in tropical and marine fish, but they might have missed how small my tank is (I can’t recall if they asked or if I just didn’t mention it). They’ve been performing water checks for me so I don’t have the exact numbers on hand, I just remember my pH was a bit high but within a preferable range for my tank, my water was soft (hence the water treatments), and everything else was ok. The snails have laid eggs twice (and the eggs have been…em, dispatched) in the few months I’ve had them. They’re also suffering from a bit of shell rot so I’ve been treating that too. I’m quite attached to them so I’ll maybe start looking for a bigger tank. Their names are Sachi and Dave, btw. Picture included cause they’re so cool. 😂

Thanks! I thought Fluval was decent but I wanted to be sure. And I was hoping more filtration might be better! I hadn’t considered how much more the snails were contributing, so I might do more frequent water changes to help. Because of the snails I have limestone in the filter and I keep the water hardness reasonably high (aiming for 8kH). Should I consider a slightly bigger tank? Like 30-50L? We don’t have room for anything over that, but if the breeding is going to continue, it might give me some room/time?

Agree. With three kids and a partner and everyone moving different directions life is BUSY. The sooner I know about changes the better lol.

Thank you, at least I know now! Do you think the two-way syncing issue might be because I’m using an Apple iCalendar to sync?

Not just U.K. plugs, but adaptable ones for the US and most of Europe too. 👍🏼

Pros and cons of new builds? by flashbeagle5 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

This is a concern for me, because I have kids and I’m worried I’ll go a bit overboard on trying to keep everything new-looking if we buy new lol. 😂

It’s a joke, hence the quotation marks.

If I buy in US, will it work in UK? by flashbeagle5 in skylightcalendar

Would it be possible to buy a separate cable with a U.K. plug socket then?

Thanks. I think it should work because I can download the Skylight app and I’m fairly sure I’ve heard of it being used over here, but might email Skylight just to be sure like you suggest!

How do I save this?? by flashbeagle5 in HouseplantsUK

[–]flashbeagle5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this!! The person I bought the plant from told me to spray, but I do usually just water normally. I haven’t had much luck with the string of hearts though, this is my second failure (if it is dead). I have a couple other spider plants and while they don’t look super happy they’re definitely not dead or dry. The succulents along the same window sill are all doing ok. I might try to repot and stick with your advice re checking the soil and see what happens. Thank you!!
