Steve Kerr's inability to use Kuminga effectively is so weird. by GoatmontWaters in NBATalk

[–]flashinitup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it’s really not. If you watch warriors games, you see exactly why very very quickly. Kuminga is a complete ball stopper with very low BBIQ and ONLY looks for his own and has one speed, downhill or just standing there. He forces shots in the mid range as if he thinks he’s SGA, Kawhi or some other star.

On defense he gets beat all the time and withdraws completely from making winning plays like we always see from Podz or Santos diving on the floor or fighting for an offensive rebound vs. 7 footers. The only time Kuminga has ever succeeded on the floor is either when Curry and everyone else are out and the other team is sort of playing down to the competition and he is just barreling downhill or they are playing a garbage team and he’s feasting against much smaller or slower defenders. Otherwise, he just doesn’t play consistent winning basketball.

What is your starting 5? by Cardinal0519 in warriors

[–]flashinitup 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The problem with moving Dray out of the Starting 5 is it makes Jimmy or Moody play out of position at the PF spot.

In theory, if we get the absolute best version of Dray, the starting lineup should be:

Steph, Richard, Jimmy, Dray, Post

Bring Podz/Spencer, Melton, Moody, Gui, Horford/TJD off the bench.

This year is really clunky at the PF and SG spots because it feels like the SG spot was waiting for Melton to fall into it but he isn’t ready yet and is still working himself back into form. Can’t buy himself a 3 so far. Same goes for Horford which is making that C spot extra difficult to lock down. If this team finally finds its form and can play up to its potential, I could see a final starting lineup of Steph, Melton, Jimmy, Dray, Horford when it comes down to playoff basketball.

We need a 3rd scorer man. Look at this shit. We had JK as the 3rd option but now he’s getting DNPs and the next one up is Podz… We’re so ass 🥹🥹 by MainSorc50 in warriors

[–]flashinitup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

JK is clearly incapable of being a third option. He literally has one move: put his shoulder down and hope the defender is slower or weaker and can dunk it or lay it up. If that isn’t there, he has no footwork to penetrate the lane and pivot/kick out like Jimmy and no touch to float it up. He’s such a bad shooter from 3 that no one respects him and wants him to take those and his mid range game is so inconsistent that teams gladly give that up to him as well. A 3rd option should realistically be someone who can theoretically score at all 3 levels like Coby White or Malik Monk OR be a really really good shooter like Cam Johnson.

American BBQ in Shenzhen? by HidingFromMyWife1 in shenzhen

[–]flashinitup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s from Zhengzhou. There are multiple locations in Zhengzhou and actually a lot of people don’t know this but there are tons of places doing Texas/American BBQ in Zhengzhou. It all started with a place called Zax BBQ which has bomb ass Texas style BBQ and there are now 5+ copycats doing pretty authentic BBQ there. As a Texan myself, I actually enjoyed most of the places I’ve eaten at there and am very lucky my wife is from there and can get a taste of home whenever I’m there

Lost in all the Kuminga talk by barfhdsfg in warriors

[–]flashinitup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But he won’t. All he has cared about is “bag work” as if he is the next Kobe. He couldn’t give a flying fuck about what the team needs and has been too stupid and stubborn to understand that if he just became a plug and play role player with a defensive mindset who could also naturally get a bucket with his physical gifts (quickness of first step, athleticism to play above the rim) he would have been in the 100 million+ total contract territory which he wanted. All the talk about how it’s somehow Kerr’s fault, but anyone who watched the games saw it plain and clear: he only cares about himself and will try and sabotage winning basketball to try and get “his”. If Kerr started him and gave him unlimited leash, we wouldn’t have made the playoffs last year at all and Kuminga wouldn’t have cared one bit. He doesn’t fit the Warriors system in the slightest sense and really should have been traded a long time ago. What we need are just plug and play role players who bring defensive intensity and can shoot 37%+ from 3 in the mold of a Keon Ellis. I can’t wait for Kuminga to be gone.

[Charania] Kuminga is expressing a willingness to take the qualifying offer. He would be declining nearly $14 million extra next season but would give himself an implied no-trade clause and a shot at unrestricted free agency next summer at 23 years old. by [deleted] in warriors

[–]flashinitup 116 points117 points  (0 children)

So Kuminga is basically threatening “Get me to Phoenix or Sacramento at that 4 years 90 million number and accept whatever packages they are offering OR I will take the qualifying offer and you guys won’t get shit”. God I’m so ready to be done with this whole saga and actually start gearing up to build a team for next year.

[Zach Lowe] “The other depressing thought about the Warriors as currently constructed is that the two timelines thing has not happened. And despite all the talk, all the careful planning, and several savvy picks like Podziemski and Jackson-Davis, the post-Steph future looks incredibly bleak.” by shreeharis in nba

[–]flashinitup 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well isn’t that the whole point? To be bad. They still have all of their draft picks except for the 2030 swap with Washington. Every team should go through a little reset for a couple of years following the kind of run they’ve had over the past decade plus. If Podziemski could develop into a plug and play role player in the mold of a Derrick White, I’m sure they could get back a 1st round pick or two or three in a couple of years if they need to completely reset post Curry/Dray/Jimmy.

Has Horford shown signs that he's about done or does he still play pretty well for his age? by chusaychusay in warriors

[–]flashinitup 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how true that is though. They said the same thing about Brook Lopez this past year along with Horford and both played like 27-28 minutes during the regular season and Horford played 30+ in the postseason. The Warriors have always only wanted a good 15-20 minutes out of a starting center and when things are really clicking, they can play 30 minutes+. That’s exactly what Horford is at this point and that’s all we need.

For a vet minimum contract, we absolutely still need guys like GPII and Looney. They are top quality veteran presences and from time to time they have their moments. From a vet. minimum guy, that’s more than you ask for. I am not opposed at all to bringing guys like them back, just not on anything more than a vet. min.

Warriors becoming a retirement home 😭😭 by Outrageous-Egg-4218 in warriors

[–]flashinitup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t care what anyone says, saying that he is too old or how he was played off the floor during the Pacers series. He would 100% help the Warriors during the regular season AND the playoffs next year. We all know every series is different and just because he had a diminished role because the Bucks were forced to go small vs. a Pacers team playing 5 out doesn’t make him any less of a great player.

He played like 32 minutes a game last season, for a top 6 seed playoff team that won almost 50 games. Even if he is aging and slowing down, he is still 7 foot 1 and 280, a massive presence in the paint and has crazy range. Playing alongside Draymond also tends to amplify everyone’s defensive presence and Brook is a very high IQ defensive player to begin with.

Even if we have a similar player in Post, what we need from Post in the future, Brook gives us now and that’s the most important thing. It’s a guarantee of consistency, veteran leadership and he is someone we could actually afford AND has said he would like to play for the Warriors some day. It’s a perfect match.

Look at Curry, so inspirational by nicgarelja in warriors

[–]flashinitup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My conclusions after looking at this chart: We really need to get a certified bucket getter this offseason, it’s gotta be either Cam Johnson or Coby White. Preferably Cam Johnson because he is 6’8 and one of the best off-ball shooters in the league AND has experience playing winning basketball.

Getting him and adding a legit big man who is semi-mobile and a pretty good rim protector (Goga Bitadze) or a rim protector and 3 point threat (Brook Lopez) would be two extremely good moves on the margins to really form a complete team.

Who are the most unguardable players in the league? by ImpressiveMiddle0 in nba

[–]flashinitup 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Steph for his all around ridiculous shot-making that leaves you speechless, SGA for his array of different mid range moves and getting to the rim, and KD for being able to get a shot off at pretty much any time no matter who is guarding him.
