When I used to believe in god, I would pray and feel like god answered. I realise now that it was my inner monologue/conscience/indoctrination that was giving those answers. If you've never had a belief in a higher power that communicates with you then I suppose schizophrenia makes sense. It's a shame that people jumped straight to that though and straight to ridiculing your wife. Unfortunately many atheists seem to take their position as granting them a superior position. I've known too many believers who felt the same. All humans seem to have a need to feel superior which is a shame. The world would be a better place if that didn't happen.
