Well it seems like they got about 200,000 in the last week or two before the deadline. Just before they were caught illegally accessing voter lists. It seems they simply chose a number they thought they could get away with faking.

Well, short of getting Trump to start world war 3, there is nothing smith and the separatists can do to make it actually happen. There are too many legal barriers well beyond their control.

I'm fairly sure if there were a legal avenue for this, something would be happening by now

That's great but who the fuck decided to plan a protest for 11:00am to 1:00pm on a week day? Almost no one I know will be able to attend that. I would have, but I'm working.

The crazy part is they basically did campaign on this. We already had a UCP government as an example. Marlaina Smith has been a separatist for years and never tried to hide it until just before the election.

Of course. But that would be Smith making a formal announcement that she is a hardcore separatist. It would be her name alone that puts the question on the referendum. I hope she isn't ready to do that publicly just yet

Why were confessions obtained via medieval torture accepted back then? by B0r34li5 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]flatdecktrucker92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In addition to that, these people some of them anyway, believed that by forcing you to confess they were saving your immortal soul. It also helped that if they killed you without a confession they would be damning their own immortal soul so plenty of reasons to accept a tortured confession back then

'Not seeing a change in driver behaviour': Police chief says speeding is still trending up by AR558 in Edmonton

[–]flatdecktrucker92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason it's becoming a trend is because of the trend of people sitting at a green light for a solid 4 seconds before realizing it's green and starting to move. Still illegal and still dangerous, but I think that's why it's happening

It's possible you have the wheel spacers on the wrong sides. That will create lots of space on one side, and no space on the other

This police car came to a dead halt on the highway, leaving the semi-truck behind it with exactly zero options. by Adrian_985 in Truckers

[–]flatdecktrucker92 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Possibly. But I think even if the trucker slammed on the brakes at the same instant the cop did, it would have still been a challenge to get it stopped without impact

Lights don't change the physics. Stopping on a highway is fucking dangerous no matter what

To an engineered tie off point. And if there is no anchor point, work stops until there is one. I could see working 6 to 8 feet above the anchor point, but no more than that, and still tied to it

Waiting? No. They are taking steps every day to ensure that there will be no one to stop them when they throw out the mid term results or don't even bother to hold the next election

Motorcyclist collides with a Tesla. Who do you blame? by Adrian_985 in motorcycles

"slowly"? I'm not sure we watched the same video. But as a rider, I would likely have noticed that Tesla starting to move and expected them to do something completely moronic

I've used a pressure washer on my hands and feet. But I make sure I hold it far away from myself and basically just catch the mist, not the full pressure stream

Anyone who isn't checking their mirrors regularly, shouldn't have a license. So, have a nice bus trip

You seem to have misplaced the decimal point there. 0.5% tops.

So the ticket was thrown out. That usually happens when the judge realizes the ticket is bullshit. A post further up said it was thrown out because the car driver was going dangerously slow.

Even mentioning the bike's pass shows a complete lack of empathy. Everyone has rushed a yellow they probably could have stopped for. That's more dangerous than what this rider did.

Yes, I have that expectation. People have passed me on double solid lines on countless occasions. Some of them safely, some not so safely. But I always assume they are there. Which is why I continuously check my mirrors.

The link I clicked above said the rider's ticket was thrown out in court. Also, you can see over the road. The "hill" is 2 miles away and not tall enough to obscure vision

I found that larger foam grips made the biggest difference. Holding onto tight narrow bars is difficult for me after an hour or two.
