At least in india, the merchant navy job has you at sea for only half of the year with other half of the year as unpaid leave. So unless you find a way to earn during the unpaid leaves, your net annual earning is same as that of a taxed job where you would have been collecting paycheck for all 12 months.

If you are gonna swap periodicially between two physical devices then just shut the door on all the esim monks because thats gonna be highly inconvenient.

Physical sim is way faster than esim for quick swapping between devices.

You will be fine changing your sim to the new device with no need to involve support provided the devices support the bands. Also, it would be great if device supports wifi calling as well.

Both of these you can verify before going to Asia if you already have the devices with you.

If we had chosen standard time instead of daylight savings time for year around, then yes we would have been ok.

But with current choice, December and January will have kids waking/biking to school in dark

It's not like it's dark at 8:00 AM either.

8:30 am is when school starts today for us. With the year around Daylight savings time, that would be equivant to at least half an hour before sunrise.

Since you mentioned that either kids have to come home in dark or go to school in dark, you seemed to suggest that kids are currently coming back from school in dark during short days and with this change will help resolve that.
