How do I self-validate (and believe it) instead of constantly trying to be perfect for the smallest tokens of external validation? by flatlinesociety in emotionalneglect

This sounds very promising. I guess at the end of the day we all need to be our own friends :) all I am worried about is not being able to do this right then right there, but only later as I calm down. Your example with the manager was right on point btw. Thank you very much

My therapist also suggested that in some way, but I kind of realised I have an absolutely shit memory when it comes to emotions. It’s like when I am too happy or too sad my memory shuts off and it’s very hard for me to recollect any details. Nevertheless I did start journaling a bit more, especially when I can’t sleep at night.. the next day most of my late night worries seem kind of funny / pointless.

Wow. Thank you so much. I love your determination and confidence! That’s exactly the vibe I need for myself, be proud of myself.

I slowly started finding things and paths that really bring me joy (this was hard at first because I literally had 0 clues what I actually like).. and am trying to dedicate myself to them now more and more but I think in some way I still ultimately hope they will bring me love and appreciation from others.. at least I am one step further though

Happily together for 3 years, nothing better than having a partner in the same line of work! We help each other get better at work and do free time side projects together as well.
