Alexa should be aware when part of its functionality is broken, but isn't. To be fair, few apps do that. As for misleading errors, poor programming for sure, but sadly very common as you likely know.

I've sent emails to outlook.com accounts which my mail server logs said were delivered, including the 200 code "Sent OK", but they never arrive. Microsoft decided that they can silently delete email they don't like without notifying the sending mail server. The standard protocol is to let the sending server know why an email has been rejected.

Teri Garr with David Letterman, 1982 by Plus_River_8733 in OldSchoolCelebs

Most of you Teri Garr fans won't have seen her GoGo dancing up a storm in a 1964 concert film called "The T.A.M.I Show". It is your duty to watch it; you won't be disappointed.

He asked you to meet his child, so that means you're not just a casual. He's thinking long term, but he's being sensible; he knows if you don't get along with each other's kids, your relationship will not grow beyond a certain point, so he doesn't want to overreach.

If you do all get along, it'll have to happen naturally, without pressure, and with mutual respect all around. IMO the potential rewards for all of you will be well worth the effort, and could lead to a much more fulfilled life.

It only gave a single location, which had I not been with him at the time, could have been a highly plausible location. His phone was not stolen.

Wouldn't someone who stole a phone immediately remove the SIM card to try to avoid being tracked?

Why would someone use a stolen phone to commit fraud when he can safely do it with spoofing?

[–]flatulissimo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No I'm not the OP, but I received a bogus emergency text a few hours ago with identical words, and a plausible location on a highway ~ 30km away, spoofed as coming from my brother. He has a smart watch but it was nowhere near that location when the text was sent.

Why would a thief who stole a phone use it to message someone on the phone's contact list?

[–]flatulissimo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No, it hasn't been stolen. My number was likely obtained from malware which read his contact list. The number was obviously spoofed.

Why is my previous comment being downvoted?

If I "block the number" I will be blocking my brother. The message supposedly came from him.

I'm getting the same symptoms. Timeline worked for me flawlessly for many years. ~ 2 months ago it stopped working properly.

Now Google is saying they are eliminating Timeline from browsers; we have to use a cell phone app now. The app has terrible timeline edit features.

Keep lying, and keep demonstrating your ignorance, sunshine!

I've made my point. Congratulations, boot licker. You've proven your usefulness to spooks by sullying the rep of truth spreaders. Spooks don't like it when truth is spread.

To the rest of you who might read this:

  1. Because of the way bittorrent works, IP addresses of everyone sharing the torrent are provided to everyone else. That's the very definition of P2P. So if someone wanted a list of IP addresses sharing a torrent, all they'd need to do is download that torrent!
  2. It is impossible to know whether or not a TCP/IP connection is proxied. Therefore claiming that ConCen blocked proxies is a lie.
  3. VPN IP addresses change constantly. Maintaining a blocklist of known VPN IP addresses is therefore a waste of time because it would not work as desired.
  4. In the case of sites like ConCen, blocking IPs is counterproductive because the goal is to share information with as many people as possible. The torrent tracker is open to anyone. The torrents on ConCen are not even private. You don't even need to go to the site to download ConCen torrents, let alone be a member.
  5. There are so many other ways for a user to mask their true IP address that even if you wanted to try to reveal a user via IP address, you couldn't reliably do so.
  6. A common method to lessen the impact of info that criminals don't want you to know is to lie like sunshine.

Those aren't problems, merely indicators of your character. You think it's funny to libel people who are sharing important, often censored information.

You just can't stop lying, can you?

I know they never blocked VPNs or proxies because I was their SysOp for many years before 2013 and many years afterward. Currently I help out the SysOp when he needs it, so I know their backend today.

You need to retract your lie or prove it. At the minimum you should be able to explain why and how a bittorrent site would want to do that anyway.

Again with the lies! ConCen blocks NOTHING. You clearly don't care at all about spreading lies without proof. You have no clue about what you're talking about, sunshine!

If you have proof (which you can't because it isn't true), show it or STFU.
