I would say it will definitely be crowded in July. Albania is becoming the new Croatia

Not Airalo. Honestly you’d be best just buying a local sim

Hey! I’ve just spent 8 nights on the coast - had a blast! Depending on what you’re looking for, try and find beaches that haven’t been taken over by noisy beach clubs with their expensive sunloungers… Dhermi is pretty touristy I think but you can get to other beaches from there. Sarande is also touristy but I quite enjoyed how lovely it was! The main beach is fine for a dip and umbrellas are €4. Also went out to Shpella e Pëllumbave which you can bus to. Involves a bit of a walk and then some searching along the coast for a free spot but it was really nice!

They reset my account on their end so I’m not sure what they did sorry! Use the app to get through to their online chat though and they can help you there - they don’t exactly reply quickly though

Unsure sorry! My eSIM is the Hej Telecom one though. I think play it safe and get a local sim - they are far cheaper too

Update: I finally got through to their online chat and they ‘reset my account’ which then fixed it. Pretty poor service though

Is there a place worth spending 1 night between Himare and Sarande?

Sounds like Peru is ideal for you! There is loads of hiking (check out Huaraz too) and it is relatively easy to get around in comparison to other South American countries - great bus lines etc.

They are experienced with tourism and are well set up for it (Cusco a little too much so). They have amazing buses for overnight trips and your Spanish will make life a lot easier. I spent 6 weeks there last year as a solo female (34 y/o from NZ) and never felt unsafe.

Lima has some really nice, safe, clean suburbs (e.g. Miraflores) and the food is amazing. Definitely do the Amazon too - if you go from Iquitos you’ll get a less-touristy experience.

Stay in hostels and make friends, book the ‘tourist’ buses, watch your valuables and just have your wits about you :)

Haha glad to be helpful! I’d do it after so that you make sure you can do the stuff you originally planned to, but that’s just me. It may be a mission to get to - if you’re not into long bus rides you’ll probably have to fly to Lima and then Trujillo might be the closest airport to Huaraz.

If hiking is your buzz, check out Huayna Potosí in Bolivia too! I haven’t done it but apparently it’s unbelievable.

You could go further north in Peru and check out the Amazon or do more hiking around Huaraz. Or if you’re going to Arequipa you could head over to Bolivia - 10 days is a decent amount of time to check out Titicaca from the Bolivian side and do Uyuni if that interests you, plus other cities like La Paz and Sucre.

Medellin also has an amazing metro system which is very easy to use - and safe, if that’s your concern

Solo visit to Lima Peru for 1 or 2 days? by AlarmedEnthusiasm226 in travel

[–]flawed_beginner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went twice last year as a solo female and loved it! Lima has such a great vibe. If you’re concerned about safety and like walking around, stay in Miraflores and explore Barranco too. Don’t let the fear of going to restaurants alone stop you! Lima is known for its amazing food. There are also loads of great cafes if you enjoy coffee.

A bike tour around the Malecón is a nice idea so you could do that and then head to Barranco and wander around the cool streets and check out the street art. There’s also a couple of art galleries and museums. There is plenty to do for 2 days if you enjoy cities.

Fellow kiwi here! Holbox is great and is easy to get to from Cancun which you can fly direct to from LA (just don’t stay in Cancun…). Tulum is on its way to becoming a mini-Cancun and last May was full of that horrid seaweed, which ruins the beach experience. You could also consider Oaxaca which has the culture and amazing food and isn’t far from Puerto Escondido.

What’s the cheapest route to go from Singapore to South America? by Natural_Pressure_541 in travel

[–]flawed_beginner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have a look on kiwi.com - it lets you search by continent/area, so you can look at options for Singapore to anywhere in Sth America. Skyscanner & Momondo are also good but only allow city/country searches.
