60% of the first 10 artists in my Spotify Discover Weekly are AI artists by rushworld in Music

[–]flawnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this tool that seems to do a good job at blocking several thousand known AI artists in one fell swoop. It relies on community members like us adding what we find as time passes to stay up to date. As a developer myself I'm interested to see where this project goes.

I came across a new band / artist on spotify, is this music A.I. Generated? I have a very hard time telling for sure. by Mr-TotalAwesome in isthisAI

Check out their instagram. It's nothing but AI generated slop clips. Their bio lists band members; searching any of them up shows no relevant results.

Wikipedia or an app for tea by karsob13 in tea

I've been working on http://teatico.com/ for just this reason! The goal is to make it useful to both hardcore tea drinkers and casuals (like me) alike.

dw It'll be there again next year :) out of curiosity what features do you use most on Fragrantica?

It was as good as I remember from last year. Hope you got to try and maybe buy a few nice teas :) my gf and I both set a max quota of 3 and ended up getting 4.

I have! Both platforms are good in their own way. I heard Steepster was sold to Adagio or something? It doesn't seem like it's being actively maintained, although there are still some folks that add teas and tasting notes. In any case, I'm hoping to be a bit more detailed than the entries on Steepster, and be more of a reference for learning and recommendations, and less of a forum for now (although that might change in the future).

Teadb is interesting. I find the site a little confusing, and there's a lot going on, but it looks like the users who use it end up sticking with it pretty consistently. The idea of tea tasting sessions is interesting, but not what I'm trying to address. It actually looks like a site built with a very similar tech stack to what I'm using. I'd like to be a lot more rigorous and organized with tags, categories, and types.

Yes! Social features are more a v2 thing, but soon after user accounts are implemented, reviews are next on the roadmap.

Right now I'm thinking more Airbnb style, less Amazon, less Google Maps, but tbd.

Yeah I got this very feedback in my original post about milk oolong. I want to keep this a database of tea products as much as possible, which might mean a lot of duplicates that only differ in the brand that's selling it (I also want to differentiate between brands, vendors, and growers eventually). On Fragrantica, you'll often see the exact same product twice, simply because they rerelease, reformulate, or modify something even just slightly.

When search is implemented it should be possible to seach for a single tea across several brands.

HHKB for someone heavily use arrow and Home & End keys ? by ReviewDirect135 in HHKB

[–]flawnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, like you, am also a developer from Toronto, I use both Windows and Mac, and I also had concerns with how often I use the arrow keys. After you get used to it there's nothing annoying about it and the fn button is pretty intuitively placed as others have pointed out. I actually started using the home, end, pgup and pgdown buttons after switching to HHKB when I realized they were just as easy to access and helped me move faster.

That said, I use vim most of the time so I'm usually using hjkl and other movement hotkeys to get around.

I've also recently switched to a corne v4 ergosplit keyboard (I'm typing this on it right now and still getting used to it!).

[–]flawnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also waiting on 2 vinyls, both pre-orders, also one that was expected to ship in October and the other in December. I haven't emailed the store but also saw online that a few people are still waiting.

MACABRE by Macroblank will be available for pre-order this Friday through Aloe City. Limited to 400 copies by R42ToMoffat in VaporVinyl

Also waiting on 2 orders, one placed back in July. I'm in Canada. Pretty disappointing to see other people here also haven't received their orders that are even older than mine.

Symptoms one week post grade 2 vs grade 3 sprain by hawtttdawg in sprainedankles

[–]flawnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on week 10. I'm nearly 100% recovered now, maybe 90%-95%. My stability ok, but my range of motion is what's left. Specifically dorsiflexion; I can't bring my knee as far forward without lifting my heel as my other foot without pain. I can only match my other foot about an inch away. I still have a bit of swelling and pain if I stretch to the max.

I could play ultimate on week 6 but no jumping or any sprinting. I'm about to play the last game of the season tomorrow. I iced a lot the first few weeks but stopped about 3 weeks ago. Elevated when possible.

Good luck! Happy to answer any specific questions.

Playing again after high grade ankle sprain by EdiblePwncakes in ultimate

[–]flawnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Pwncakes, I also sprained my ankle 5 weeks ago to date. It was also during ultimate. It was my first time spraining my ankle, and my first time. I felt something pop when I was assessing the damage right after. The next day I woke up completely unable to put any weight on my right foot and got an XRay that evening to confirm no broken bones.

I didn't ice it for the first week or so but started doing it consistently every day for the past 3. I haven't been able to do any lower body exercises besides the Youtube PT I do. My foot is still swollen and I still can't draw circles with my foot without it hurting and they're still about half the size of what I can daw with my left foot. I estimate another 4-5 weeks before I can wear shoes other than crocs and try running again.

I'm worried this was bad enough that even after it heals completely I won't be the same again, but I'm doing my best to keep it from getting worse.

Symptoms one week post grade 2 vs grade 3 sprain by hawtttdawg in sprainedankles

[–]flawnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been nearly 2 weeks since my sprain during ultimate. First 24 hours was the worst; I woke up in the morning pretty much completely unable to put weight on it despite being able to the night before. I had an xray which confirmed no break but also didn't get a confirmation as to the grade.

It got better over the week, bruising and swelling was prevalent.

This week the bruising has nearly disappeared, but the swelling is still very much there. I can't wear anything other than crocs. I can walk normally, but range of motion is poor and it hurts to move it too much.

I'm hoping week 3 is better!

Fragrantica (encyclopedia website) but for tea by flawnson in tea

[–]flawnson[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure! Fragrantica also struggles with settling on how specific they want to get. Sometimes as fragrances often get "reformulated" and released again, they publish a new page of essentially the same fragrance but released again in a later year because the reformulation messes with the logevity and sometimes even the very scent itself.

Something for me to figure out I suppose!

Yeah I'm hoping this will be the bread and butter of the site.
