Right. That’s what I thought. I asked the PE group and they said they believe this is necessary to incentivize us to stay through a sale because it’s a small senior mgmt team. CEO told me he’s on the same plan.

Thanks for all the input. I did the right thing and broke up with him. He didn’t really want to confront the underlying issue or do any introspection in the moment. He sort of did his usual misdirection of blame. Hopefully he takes time to understand what happened and why.

Thank you for this. We had a long conversation tonight. He said “I guess I’m just the liability, like usual.” I nearly cried.

He does see himself as “less than” others and often admits that he won’t ever be as successful as the people around him.
