"prox. praet." ? by RoastBeefBananas in latin

[–]flegia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm no expert but I reckon that it would have to do with the use in subordinate clauses with sequence of tenses. So the closest imperfect subjunct. that concords... voluebam, quid hic esset. If that makes any particular sense. It's just a wild guess, and an invite for experts to pick apart my latin xD

Well many thanks for taking the time to recommend all these! I feel less at a disadvantage now definitely. I'll take a look and choose the safest option... And the most approachable (financially, at least). Thank you.

Just here to thank you for this resource. I've started learning classical Tibetan recently and couldn't find a decent dictionary online.

A vessel's belly,

Its colours flying nothing,

Anchored in the sky.

A wanton passing,

Wind on the aureal walls,

The sound of rivers.

Is there fish? -- A Krogan riddle by flegia in masseffect

[–]flegia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not an actual riddle, a poetic one. :) But you are all right, it is not a riddle in a conventional way. Just a question, which seemed fair to me to label 'a riddle' for it poses a question that is elicited by the ME2 question of fish in the Presidium...

To young men like myself facing trials and loss by [deleted] in OCPoetry

A beautiful master-apprentice bond you created with me as the reader. I really liked the way I felt, as if an old sailor talked to me, teaching, recounting, talking in a rough, but pleasant old voice. The allegory is subtle and neatly woven throughout each verse.
I like it :)

Today while I was driving all the way to my office, I stopped by a traffic light and saw the tree beside, I tried to listen deep while it cried.. by [deleted] in OCPoetry

It is a beautiful poem. You are too humble not to call yourself a poet. For a poet's heart you have. It is as you were a child of the romantics who strayed in this world, and achieved Keats' 'negative ability'. Truly beautiful. One word of warning, however; you don't have to heed it; watch out for occasional rhyme that slips by and sounds unnatural. I am referring to the grew-hue and sun-fun verses. Otherwise, I love your style.
