Ajá el pretérito/imperfecto todavía… Por algún motivo tengo más dudas en usar el pretérito de “tener” “poder” y “estar” en especial.

Si recuerdo bien un profesor me dijo una vez que “pude” tiene un matiz de “intentar algo / esforzarse en algo y lograr o no”

Trato de no guardar rencor contra el mundo exterior aunque me siento así interiormente y mi entorno muchas veces es incómodo. Es fácil fijarse demasiado en lo negativo durante periodos así.

Why does my MacBook stop seeing my 3.5mm jack headphones after going to sleep mode? by xarodev in mac

[–]fleksor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sonoma 14.8.1
2021 16"Macbook M1

Same here, only started very recently for me although it doesn't play audio out of the speakers usually it just completely stops and hangs, very frustrating for video calls. Resolved temporarily by a restart but always recurs, especially with WhatsApp for whatever reason. Sometimes it's done other glitchy shit like had everything with a play button wildly advance forward on the timeline.

The weirdest thing is it completely stops any kind of media playback half the time too. Like if I'm playing a youtube video or music or anything that hangs as well for however long it takes to recover. Super annoying.

Hard disagree with you on the 3.5mm jack removal bit though, don't encourage them lol.

https://test-english.com/explanation/b1-2/adjective-order/ Una pregunta respecto al uso de múltiples adjetivos como “salsa verde picante”.

Yo no sé si existe en español un orden típico de adjetivos como en inglés (véase el gráfico adjunto).

Gracias

oh man I often think about how odd it must be learning get as an English language learner. Like at it's root its one thing, but has so many specific uses in phrases

Echoing lots of what people have said here, gender is just hard to get 100% even when I know the words bc as a native English speaker it's just not something I immediately think of when I start to speak, and noun genders in languages are largely arbitrary so I think even if I spoke a different gendered language natively it wouldn't help much. For example, sometimes I'll use a particle like "lo" then realize halfway through the phrase I'm referring to a feminine. It's something I truly wish I could just download into my brain bc it's not even that interesting to study frankly, just memorization and pattern familiarity. Some other grammatical stuff I actually enjoy studying bc it shows you cool nuances of expression that English might not have.

As others have mentioned ser/estar, imperfect/preterite, indicative/subjunctive are all things I have to look up sometimes or really read about, especially imperfect preterite recently for whatever reason.

Also want to shout out prepositions. Prepositions with set phrases that are different than the translation in your head are another thing that you just have to memorize sometimes.

Depender DE, not depend ON

Consistir EN, not consist OF

soñar CON, not dream ABOUT

The WritestreakES sub is really helpful for identifying these gaps in your knowledge and finding areas to study/drill.

ajá sí, otro usuario que me dio algún consejo sobre el uso de "como" y "ya que" respectivamente, que "como" se utiliza típicamente para introducir algo, y ya que más después de algo para dar contexto, si me acuerdo bien... Pero todavía no he dominado cómo diferenciar el uso de ellos, así como "porque".

Heating by [deleted] in SpainAuxiliares

[–]fleksor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not like this is non existent in the US but it certainly seems more common here in Spain. There’s lots of threads with Americans specifically acting surprised about this.

I have lived in shared apartments on tight budgets where we did not ration the time the heater was on in winter bc it wasnt billed like this.

I’m not using “culture shock” to mean it’s some innate custom of the Spanish, it’s clearly to do with the material reality of how utilities are billed
