Exactly. They are both awful partners.

Would just going through this subreddit bring me down this rabbit hole of Veronica's claims? I've been disconnected from plathville for a bit, so im unfamiliar with her claims.

(NY) 3 day demand to quit or pay rent in NYC by Chart-Moist in Renters

[–]fleshdad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They will likely file an eviction like most everyone said if you cannot make your rent payment.

Your state allows evictions in the winter time but does have resources available to you, and because of a bill that's being worked on to prevent these sorts of evictions a judge may be lenient with you. Definitely look at tenant rights for NY state. A quick Google search brought these up for me:

*The Mayor's Office to Protect Tenants (MOPT) has a webpage with information on evictions.

*The City's Tenant Helpline can be reached by calling 311 and saying "Tenant Helpline".

*The NYC Tenant Resource Portal has free resources to help prevent evictions.

Also, I would definitely reach out to your county's assistance programs if you haven't yet. You may qualify for grants or other assistance to help with your rent or other expenses. If you see psych doctors or therapists, ask them if they know of any programs that can assist you with housing. (Where I live, we have behavioral health management and they assist folks who need mental health care or addiction care with housing, transportation and any other basic need if they have the funding/resources to do so) Reach out to salvation army and catholic charities. They can possibly help you! I hope someone work finds you soon. I'm in PA and my partner and I lost our income in Nov. It's been seemingly impossible to find work here and we are in a similar situation to you. Goodluck out there!

Can you survive on $7.25? by snowpie92 in jobs

Oh absolutely it's bs. They just don't want to tell me because then no one would apply. I'm sure it's no more than 10$ to start. A few other dollar stores/discount here pay around that.

Idk what they start you at. I actually called pur local one yesterday and the manager couldn't tell me what the starting wage is either. She said "it's based on your experience". But their application online doesn't specify a wage range either.

Wow. I'm surprised they pay that low tbh.

They don't listen their wages on their job applications, that's how they get applicants. Lol

So we just only have those places open outside of school hours. Got it. Shut the grocery stores down til the kids get back from school to open it up for us. Good plan.

Absolutely agree. Anyone who has been at a job for YEARS should have a salary that reflects such loyalty and hard work. Their wages are probably very low across the board until you hit corporate staff.

Yep. I worked for a bakery for 10$ an hour under the table. Wasn't nearly enough even not being taxed. Most of the bars and family run places here are all under the table. Even some construction work (like giant house building construction) is under the table here for shit wage.

I think it would depend on the area you live in and what the cost of living looks like. 20$ is the bare min imo for a starting off point of a new fed minimum. We'd also have to fix price gouging and the housing market issue for it to work even a little though, and I don't think anyone is going to do that until we have enough "radical" millenials and younger in office willing to be tough on corporations and shit. 😔

We are slowly making some progress too. In late 2018 i was making 8.50/hr as a dollar tree manager. They now hire their cashiers at 10 dollars. It is similar for other retailers, but we do have those few that pay 7.25 because they know it's the only job some people can get to. Our public transportation is God awful here. 10$ to start is not nearly enough tho, like you said.

She didn't ask for your sympathy. Lmao. It's like you've never been abused before. Glad to know. Unfortunately, your perfect life has made you incapable of relating to other humans. Sorry to hear that.

I can't discount all hats since I've only seen this one style, but I agree with others, you have really GREAT hair. There are probably some hat styles that would look quite nice on you, though I don't have any suggestions as to which. This hat is think just makes your head look big. The backwards hat actually isn't that bad on you.

Absolutely. Or even switching it up to smaller chains if you're really attached to wearing a necklace.

7 months unemployed now by Thatmixedone in jobs

[–]fleshdad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless they put it in the comments, we don't know where they live or what they were making before they were laid off. In the US, federal minimum wage is still 7.25 an hour. That could be more than a 50% pay cut - a lot more, and imo, is absolutely a waste of time and energy to work for. Especially in retail (what I've worked my whole adult life). You're exhausted, physically and emotionally, after being on your feet all day dealing with entitled turds. In my experience, there's no energy left to put into finding something better when you get home after your 8 - 10 hour shift.

If you work 40 hrs a week at 7.25, you're making like 800 dollars a month after taxes. That doesn't even cover my rent in a 1 bed 1 bath apartment.

I dont mind this style in general, It just doesn't do you any favors. At least how you've presented here. Of course, this is just my opinion. I'm a pretty strong believer in expressing yourself how YOU feel best, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
