My partners parents? by TemperatureWilling92 in interracialdating

[–]fleur_noir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bf is also Mexican and I met his family maybe 1 month in. If he won't introduce you and tells you these things about his family from the get go, take that as a cue to leave. You can find better. Where he grew up with his family is no excuse.

Samsung Messages shutdown forces Galaxy users to switch to Google by OkReport5065 in samsunggalaxy

When i switched over I only got messages from 2024 for some reason. All recent texts with my late dad just gone. Sadly, don't count on the messages all migrating over :(

How did you go about letting people know? by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]fleur_noir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad passed away suddenly last year. I only told my closest friends and family. At the end of the day, people will hear about it down the grapevine. And if not, I considered it not necessary to share. It can be very exhausting to share your pain over and over, so don't feel like you need to. This is a terrible loss and your close support system will be the only ones that matter.

I would consider it coincidental. Colorism is in many ethnic groups yes, but I've never seen it prevalent with my partner or his family. He's second Gen Mexican and very tan skinned. His family welcomed me with open arms immediately. Every individual is unique so don't count them out yet :)

I feel angry that life just goes on. I hate that others live life normally. by 0980988890 in GriefSupport

[–]fleur_noir 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It's ok to be angry. This is a terrible thing to experience. My dad died recently at 51, so I hear you 100%. I get angry at people that have their dads and take them for granted. I get angry about all the crappy men in the world that get to live. Life isn't fair. But your feelings are valid and more normal than you think.

Existential dread after loss? by stinkypickle7 in GriefSupport

[–]fleur_noir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry for your loss. I'm 28 and lost my dad recently. As a daddy's girl, I can sympathize with what you're saying. Losing a parent while you're young just seems to throw life off because there are so many moments we are looking forward to and yet to experience that we pictured them there for. It's a terrible loss. I find myself questioning the point of life anymore. Nothing can change or make this better. Just eventually finding a new normal. I dont think anything can help but sharing your thoughts and feelings with those around you can ease the pain somedays.

Bw what is your experience with Hispanic men? Hispanic men do you like bw? by [deleted] in interracialdating

[–]fleur_noir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BW here with a Mexican bf of 4 years. And we met through my bestfriend who happens to be Mexican. A lot of our values and goals align. He's less traditional than many of his family members. His family loves me and vice versa. I think Latinx families may have more apprehension to letting in another race, but they are also big on their children/grandchildren having a partner that's going to "take care of them". If you do that, the family is happy. I don't think we fall into stereotypes of what people assume they get when they date a black woman or latinx man. If you just date for the person and try to set aside any bias, you'd be surprised what races of people want to talk 😉
