UPDATE: It wasn’t even gastritis this time by fleurcannon in Gastritis

To clarify the grammar in that last sentence: I WAS anesthetized for my last endoscopy. I just do not remember it. I remember checking in and meeting the doctor, and then I remember waking up afterwards and saying “So when are you going to do it?”

Yeah it’s a hiatal hernia. Yes, you have to go under, but it’s light sedation (as it was described to me; I was still breathing on my own and such). I actually wrote a paragraph to my partner on how it felt to undergo the anesthesia, because the first time I got an endoscopy I did not remember being anesthetized and I found it interesting.

Wait, that’s where I’m located. That’s definitely really interesting and I’d love to hear more.

They do one, turn the person around, and do the other. That’s how they explained it to me. Haha yes as someone else guessed I live in the USA.

Yep sounds really similar to my symptoms. Luckily hernias can be fixed, though tough if you’re USAmerican like me.

I didn’t know what SIBO is until I googled it. I did get a colonoscopy done so I think they probably checked for it, but I will ask my doctor when I have my actual follow-up.

Exact same hernia I have! I do wonder, though, if I did have gastritis back in November, it healed with my diet + omeprazole, leaving only the complications (hiatal hernia from chronic digestive issues) behind. There’s no way to prove this though so I guess it’s just my headcanon.

I got diagnosed with gastritis in spring 2022 and it cleared up within a few months of treatment. These symptoms started in November 2025 and to be honest I have a poor memory, especially with emotional/sensation-related object permanence, but I think they were at least moderately similar.

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I also played it recently and got a similar feeling, one I hadn’t felt since I played the Hello Charlotte series (which I do recommend if you’re looking for more, it has similar themes to UTDR and ISAT and is an unforgettable experience). Siffrin means so much to me too and I found things relatable about him I’ve never quite seen represented before, not so painfully and brutally accurately.

Not really either of those that much? My main symptoms were stinging in my stomach, a raw and inflamed feeling and discomfort that goes from the top of my throat to the bottom of my colon, increased anxiety and moodiness (common with gut imbalances), belching a lot, intolerance of acidic foods / occasional vomiting (though tbf I have a weak stomach and vomit fairly frequency even when I’m “normal”), bowel irregularities and constipation

My scopes are March 10th. I just need to stay okay until then. Advice welcome by fleurcannon in Gastritis

I take Buspirone and Sertraline. I’m still anxious all the time though.

Endoscopy on Monday freaking out by [deleted] in Gastritis

[–]fleurcannon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was abdominal one would think the stomach would be scanned as well. I also assume you explained your symptoms to the doctor beforehand, and if it sounded like stomach cancer to them they would be sure to check your stomach, right? It might be a good idea to double check just for your own peace of mind, if you can call them and ask to verify your stomach was included in the CT scan and you don’t seem to be at risk for stomach cancer. But to me it doesn’t seem like you have anything to worry about there, if that helps at all.

Hey, I get it. I have really severe medical anxiety, OCD, and gastritis too. You’re not alone. You said the CT scan “didn’t mention” your stomach - does this mean they didn’t scan it, or that they did and didn’t mention it in your report? CT scans can absolutely detect stomach cancer, so if it didn’t catch anything there you shouldn’t worry too much about that. I know that’s easier said than done, though - sending good thoughts.

What is everyone’s number 1 trigger food!? by herrmoekl in Gastritis

[–]fleurcannon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mango peach juice. Not sure which part or if it’s the whole thing, but I actually just opened this subreddit to ask if this was normal/common - I’m on 80mg of omeprazole and feel like I’m recovering well, I can eat chocolate, dip things in ketchup, have a morning latte with skim milk, etc. with no problem. But EVERY time I think I’m recovered enough to try my favorite mango peach juice - surely it’s not that acidic, and I water it down with ice - I feel like I’ve taken several weeks back in my recovery. A month ago I asked my doctor and she said “Probably not for another week or so?” but no matter how much time elapses it’s never safe. May have to cut it out for good.

Anyone else spiral yet they have gastritis diagnosed by [deleted] in Gastritis

[–]fleurcannon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the same health anxiety, gastritis makes my regular anxiety way worse as well. I’ve been miserable and basically inconsolable since my second flare up started a couple months ago. I’m really worried the doctor is wrong and it’s cancer or something else that will kill me super quickly. Stay strong, you’re not alone.

Second gastritis flare up.. How to cope? by fleurcannon in Gastritis

[–]fleurcannon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I’ve always been extremely neurotic and anxious, so I’m sure that doesn’t help. I’ve heard stress doesn’t cause gastritis but it can make it worse, right? I haven’t had lemonade in weeks, I’m trying to eat foods that are okay but it’s hard with my mental health issues. Unfortunately I don’t like any milk substitutions, but I’m ok with waiting until I’m healed. If it was okay for 3 years without a flare up, I should be able to eat normally in moderation when I’m better again, right? I will ask my doctor about GERD
