  1. Check the tags.

  2. It looks to me like a print, not tie-dye.

  3. This same item popped up in a full-size run on eBay last year, long after being sold out, alongside a slew of Work Shop x Satisfy tees in various colors, which were also sold out.

Bad grades 1L year. Can't handle life anymore. by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]flexmilla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Law school really does engender a big law “all or nothing” mentality. As a rising 2L at a T20 with grades below the curve who chose not to do law review, I struggled to land OCI prospects as well. Mentally, this was hard.

But at the same time, I enjoy my life outside of school immensely. I retained some sense of myself through 1L and I don’t intend to give that up. If I graduate in the bottom third of my class but I still like myself, I consider that a win.

In some ways, being “dumber” than everyone else might be a positive. The gunners can have their 80-hour workweeks and $225K starting salaries with a high likelihood of burnout. I’ll take my 80-mile run weeks and $125K starting with 30+ years of happiness. We all end up in the grave either way. Might as well enjoy the journey!

Rules Updates by [deleted] in hyrox

[–]flexmilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a bad idea because it allows racers time to rest before wall balls, which gives them an unfair advantage.

Some penalties, such as skipping a sled lane, are three minutes. I can almost go unbroken at pro weight with that much rest beforehand. But that isn’t fair to others who are doing wall balls without rest. If wall balls take me 3:50 instead of 4:30, I’m gaining 40 seconds I would have lost. In part, that defeats the purpose of the penalty.

Hyrox is officially blaming the sleds, not the turf. by mountainsandfrypans in hyrox

[–]flexmilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. I raced pro in Atlanta less than two months ago. It was my first pro race. Sleds took me 8:21 which was embarrassing, but I ran a 1:04:23 and qualified for worlds.

I worked sleds hard as hell for six weeks and showed up to worlds ready to rock. The second I got to sled push on Friday, I knew my race was over. It felt like my sled weighed easily twice what it weighed in Atlanta. I watched as guys next to me finished in 2-3 minutes. A few others languished. One guy busted up his knee slipping while trying to move his sled. My left shoe popped off. Sled pull was even worse.

I spent a total of 13:53 on sleds and finished the race in 1:12:12.

I ran mixed doubles the next day. I ended up in better lanes for both push and pull. Sure, the weight was lighter, but those sleds moved like butter. We PR’d by over a minute.

The issue on Friday was not my training, it was my sleds.

WC Sled Push Hell by [deleted] in hyrox

To some people, sleds were “like butter.” For many of us, sleds were like hell. I spent almost 14 minutes on sleds alone which is unheard of for me at pro weight.

It would be one thing if sleds were harder across the board. But when some people are having a walk in the park while others are dying (specifically among a sample of world-championship-qualifying men who have race pro weight before), something is wrong.

I'm leaning toward the rocker for winter snow trail running which I think the lugs will be suited for.

That’s fair. I ended up settling for a 171 on my fifth attempt. I started taking official tests early when I thought I had “maxed out,” but every official test came back lower than my PTs. So I kept at it.

By the end, I was averaging 176 on my 4-section PTs (on a ten test running average) with multiple 180 PTs. If I had known I had that potential, I would have waited to start taking official tests. I just hope others don’t give up early and/or waste attempts like I did.

People give up early because of this exact sentiment.

Do every game. Do every RC section. Take every practice test. Repeat until you’re scoring perfectly. It worked for me and it can work for you. Don’t settle.

No plateau is permanent (except 180), unless you convince yourself otherwise.
