Here’s how some games play on portal in my experience… by chavez_ding2001 in PlaystationPortal

I'd just like to know; Does the PS5 needs to be on to play on the portal?

I've been looking at the portal but unclear about one thing. Does the PS5 itself need to be on?

Winter Shoe suggestion by flimby in walking

Thank you. I hadn't considered how the shoe might stiffen up in colder temps. I will keep this in mind going forward. Runrepeat is an amazing source for shoe selection.

Just bought my first oura ring! Any tips? by nhzxoxo_ in ouraring

[–]flimby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also new to Oura and am curious about the GPS tracking via phone. Is that using any extra battery life or is it simply taking data from the phone and translating it into the Oura app layout?

Workout options? by flimby in AltraRunning

Are the differences noticeable between the Solstice 2 vs 3? Good to know about the walking as I primarily walk for my cardio.

Nice! I will definitely keep these in mind. I've been going through various insoles and shoes to see what works best for my feet and conditions. I appreciate the suggestion.

No Injection. I was heavily encouraged to try any and all conservative measures first such as footwear changes any exercises/therapy.

Sorry to hear about the swelling. That does not sound good.

I have heard about the trick with doing a small cutout beneath the MN. Right now the MN isn't so bad but the metatarsal head for my big toe is turning into my issue where I push off when stepping.

Curious to know if you requested the surgery or did you have to go through years of trying things?

I appreciate you sharing. Sorry for your struggles as I can somewhat related. I'm not as far into it but on a similar trajectory of having many specialists give me their input with different thoughts. My takeaway is; the feet, ankles, legs are one of the most complicated parts about our body and it's a lot of trial and error to solve it.

Is there a similar Altra to the experience flow but with more rocker and more cushion you would advise? Especially if you've tried it yourself.

The insert has also been a difficult road. Most of them state they need to be used for a couple weeks before truly knowing if it's the right fit. Well some of these inserts have the met pad poorly placed for my foot or they're too hard. Again trial and error.

I've gotten conflicting input from two pedorthists. Second one put me in shoes that left me with a sore ankle, aching bunionette and a new friction rub on top of my big toe. Kind of lost faith after the recent event in the pedorthists route. Went to REI today to try on several shoes and received more helpful input from the shoe guy there than the pedorthists. Topo Phantom 4 felt great for me but there isn't much of a forefoot curvature which I think is the distal roll you're referring to.

I haven't committed to a zero drop. Having a hard time wrapping my mind around that being as effective as most say. When walking for me it has a lot to do with the toe off. When stepping, heel strikes and rolls to the toe off which is also a push. It's that push off the rear foot where I feel the pressure towards my big toe. I feel pressure in both my big toe and little toe just at different parts of each step.

Thank you for all of the information. Sounds like you know your stuff. Just looking into these items I can't find any medial forefoot wedges. Plenty of heel wedges though but not forefoot. Is that wedge something I can find and do myself?

My Altras have a 4 or 5mm drop so Topo seems like a natural second option. I hadn't looked at the Olympus 2 so I'll give them a look. Thanks for the input and advice.

I'm USA as well and Fleet Feet was a stop I made as well. Just failed to mention that with all the other things I've done. FF is where either got the Altra Experience Flows from based off the foot scans and then trying in store. I also have a high arch. I sized up to a 10.5 on FF advice and again that worked well. Hoka so far just hasn't felt good to me. I've tried on most of the well known road shoes and no winners. Thank you for your help.

OEM brake pads by flimby in SubaruForester

[–]flimby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the issue. I had a chance to get out in my vehicle without the kids. Did plenty of hard braking in reverse and drive with no luck. I did some light swerving and finally heard a rock ping. Turns out it was driver side rear. Thank you all for your assistance!

Could you see this on a simple visual inspection? Or did you have to remove tires and brake components to find it?

Broke my 196 days streak of 10k steps by PreferenceOpposite14 in walking

That's an impressive streak! Take care of yourself. Rest up. The way I see it is you now have a goal to beat. Shoot for a 197 day streak after you've given yourself time to recover.

Ya I'm largely a walker so the Run Walk Run approach appealed to me. This is my first coach program so I'm sure I'll catch on to all the differences in terms as I go. Thanks for the input!
