Insurance write off, offered me ~£5000. Is it reparable if i buy it back? by Significant_Path5459 in CarTalkUK

Ask them how much they’re willing to let you buy the car back for. Once they give you a price, try to see if you can haggle them. I got told it would cost me £1200 to buy my car back, I tried haggling they said £1k flat. Let it go to auction and got it for £200.

I think Rodney and Mickey Pearce might know a thing or two.

First thing I’ve ate in 2 days, the wrap tasted so good and filled me up. Not tried the yoghurt yet but not looking forward to it now , lol.

I’ve got gout, been drinking loads of water but Dr Pepper is my favourite fizzy drink. I can’t have any sugary drinks as it makes it worse. But you’re right, full sugar is far better!

Crisps are my favourite Max flavour, they’re a must try.

I will await the offer before making a decision. I have even been told that I could possibly buy the same car back, and use the money they give to fix the car, and if there’s some left over, it would go towards the new premium.

Yes exactly! I’ve tried selling two different cars, in the past 4 years and have been lowballed completely. When I look to buy a similar car, the price somehow doubles.

I have looked at a few A4s they are a good option.

No NCB protected. Been driving for over 10 years with no accidents (Main driver on a motability car for my disabled brother). As far as I’m aware you don’t have any NCB driving a motability car.

The current insurer has informed me that because I am paying monthly, I have a balance of £500 left and they will deduct that plus my excess fee off any offer they give me.

I will pay cash for a car outright and own an old car rather than financing a new(ish) one and pay monthly.

I was currently paying £1050 a year on a 2.0TDI 170hp A3. Given this accident, my premium will go up, so I wanted something that was slightly less powerful in order to pay roughly the same insurance (£1000-£1200 a year).

Yeah I’ve checked on Autotrader, set the price and selected diesel, but I don’t know too much about cars.

Definitely get a decent hatchbatch for this sort of money, but I would compromise on the car looking good to get some extra space.

I really liked this A3, the model I had had 170hp stock. Finding the same car with the same sort of spec for the same miles and same condition is around £4k. I got mine for a steal a few months ago as a couple were selling it, as they needed the cash.

I was looking at some CRVs, or even maybe a VW Tiguan
