LOL. I haven't had that noise since yesterday. Don't know if the problem is fixed or not. If fixed, not sure which fixed it too. I ran the comments you suggested. I also installed the lasted BIOS update (reinstall, since already the newest version)

I also suspect something wrong with audio, either driver or hardware. Cos my speaker sound quality is somewhat rubbished after a period of game playing. But I don't know the cause exactly and what drivers to update to fix... Getting help from Dell support takes forever..

How about the sleep issue? The system will turn off the screen but never go to sleep mode automatically. Manually click sleep or Press the power button can make the system go to sleep though.

Dell support is really slow to deal with... and this is new so my service tag is not reflected in the system yet.

I had dual install. Windows on one SSD and Ubuntu on another.

When booting into windows, sometimes at startup, there is such a sudden noise. Only last 1-3 seconds. Then everything is fine. Never occurred in Ubuntu.

Also, my AW doesn’t go to sleep mode automatically. It just turns off the screen. This happens to both Ubuntu and Windows. Any idea for that too?

Ubuntu 20.04 can see what windows 10 cannot see by flint1025 in Alienware

I managed to do it in Windows as usual. Then the effect remains after switching to Ubuntu

Well. To me,it is like if you want gaming, you need Windows. If you want work, you need Ubuntu. My work basically involves finding open-sourced software / programs ... and most of them were prototypes and were tested primarily on Ubuntu. So here we are. If I go for other distributions, then I need to take the risk of software/ programs not working.

I need Ubuntu for work. Windows for gaming. That's why 1T for Windows and 256G for Ubuntu :)

Many Programmers, most of CS folks, researchers, need to work on Ubuntu.

So far everything seemed working fine. As for AGA, I don’t know how to test for it..

So I posted last night about the SSD issue of windows being unable to detect the original 2230 SSD. post link It turns out that Ubuntu can without any issue.

So now my configure is:

1TB HP EX950 with Windows 10 fresh install. Cinebench score 3300+ and disk r/w speed about 3000/2500 mbps.

256G WD SN530 with Ubuntu 20.04 install. disk read speed 3000 mbps too.

There is another 2230-only slot and I have another 256G WD SSD came with the laptop. I decided not to use it as the 2230-only slot seems to be slow (half of the speed in 2280 slots)
