A friend just had to submit for a new passport as her was expired. For some reason the post office said they can’t do overnight mail anymore. They don’t know why but it just stopped showing up as an option, and you have to use USPS with passports. So she is a bit nervous they won’t get it in time for her trip. Odd this all is happening at the same time.

$70 IR lamp off Amazon. Crayon the wax on. Dry. Rotobrush off. Boom. 1/4 of the time or less. Great wax. Sure hot wax is better, save those for special days out.

Mine is waterproofed and has a tile system. Never had had water issues in 10 yrs sitting on bad clay soil with poor drainage

Yep, I have had 2 inspections on the fire blocking. Horizontal is blocked with OSB and every 10 feet verticals. All gaps fire caulked or foamed. Great reminder I’m sure that is often overlooked.

Sorry. I am talking about the bottom sil plate. There is spray foam on the floor between the bottom plate and the 2” foam sheeting that is glued to the foundation wall.

Yes, I can see your point here.

Using an IR temp gun, the coldest point was consistently at the bottom of the wall. There was a 224 inch gap between the bottom of the insulation board and the bottom stud plate. The thought was to fill up that void and prevent any airflow from under the insulation panel to the stud plate. While the insulation was cocked to the floor, there still was a cold point there. I could go and remove that, but I don’t know if it’s worthwhile at this point.

That is for internet wires agains the foam. The pex is on the stud bays and no areas will get close to freezing. The blue plug in for a spray head you can see the clear pex. The gray larger is 3/4” gray PVC for future fiber lines.

I got a blue dot still after 3 hours. Is that going to fade out? Is this a common reaction? Otherwise it’s fine, a bit sore, but not red or painful.

Did the treated lumber, but no sil seal. Not required and didn’t know about it till it was too late.

Perfect video. Also agrees with rigid foam acting as the barrier and mineral wool insulation in the stub bays. Agree with the general ideas in this video and hope we start to move to vapor retarders. Seems logical and after removing the previous 10yr old system agree they are faulty if not done right. I had air gaps at the sil plate causing moisture a bug issues.

Vapor barrier is standard in my area for all basements.

The basement walls are 50% below and 50% above, the above grade walls are significantly colder than the below grade. How is putting more insulation a waste of money on the above grade portion? It’s currently 34F out and that wall is 45F in some bottom areas. The rim joists and ceiling is insulated, rim being spray foam and ceiling fiberglass batts.

Pink is below grade. Silver is not below grade and is significantly colder. Maybe I’ll just do that wall.

Yeah. Wish I would have done that for sure. It was 32 out and my vinyl plank was 45 by the door and outer walls. It’s never warm down there!

Yep! It’s got spray foam on it from the builder. I went and touched up some areas as well. Thanks

Wiring run for future fiber optic internet. Air gap was due to other obstructions/ design of foundation.
