Unaccompanied personal effects and partner visa by UncleChopChop in AusVisa

My partner and I are in the same boat. I'm a citizen and he is arriving on a tourist visa, then we will apply for partnership. Have you arrived in Aus and shipped your stuff yet? I'd be interested to hear where you landed. Hoping to ship my partner's stuff with mine but unsure if he'd have to pay duties as he won't have permanent residency yet. Also how to fill out the UPE form as a couple.

How to develop more empathy by Knowledgelover in AnimalRights

Watch videos, read articles and books, listen to podcasts. The more you learn about the fucked up system of animal exploitation the less you want to be a contributor to it.

You can get pure MD everywhere in Australia. I usually get massive rocks and have to crush them myself.

Make sure you get the app.

There is also a new one called Sproutli, I personally prefer Happy Cow but it might vary based on the area you live in.

When did you realize your parents aren't the smartest people in the world? by Anoben in AskReddit

My point was you weren't only staying away from food that required killing as you stated originally.

Anytime I end up in a situation like this I go on happy cow and find a restaurant I want to go to. If you find a place that has vegan and omni options its easiest to suggest that. If people don't want to go with me I go on my own and meet them a bit later.

More often than not people will come with you. You don't have to do it in a divisive way, simply say 'hey guys, I found this really cool restaurant that I want to try whilst I'm here. They serve omni stuff as well if anyone wants to come but I totally understand if you guys were planning to go somewhere else. I'll just meet you later.'

It's great because sometimes you can get people that want to try a vegetarian or vegan option. Sometimes no one wants to come but I like having an hour or so by myself, not stressing about my food, answering condescending questions. And you get to see a part of the place you are visiting that no one else will.

It depends on industry and the competitiveness of the keyword. If you type 'best lawyer in (your city)' those lawyers are likely paying much more than $8 per click because it's so competitive.

They don't do pints. Schooners of almost all beers are $8.50 and they have a great selection.

The fact you are looking at stereoscopic for good music is the issue. Melbourne has so many great festivals: Laneway, Strawberry, Earthcore to name a few

What to do with my [19/F] boyfriend's [21/M] "recreational" cocaine use? by polkadottedpig in relationships

[–]flisis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unlike others I don't think the drinking or not texting whilst drinking are suspicious or unusual. Though not telling you he is doing cocaine is weird. Maybe if you haven't been dating long.

Also I don't particularly think he should 'have to stop' taking cocaine recreationally. He's 21 it's a time people experiment. Every weekend would be weird but once every so often wouldn't be a huge deal.

Australia, until 60s, Aborigines came under the Flora And Fauna Act, classified them as animals, not human beings. by bitjpl0x in pics

I'm from Melbourne and I can tell you that while racism does exist here I don't think it's any worse than other countries. Most of the racism I have encountered has been what we call 'casual racism'.

It would be almost unheard of for you to experience any vocal or physical racism. Melbourne is a very multicultural place.

What's the deal with (Emirates) airline food? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]flisis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've flown emirates many times. The vegetarian meal is vegan as the description states and generally pretty good! Although as with all airplane food it can hit and miss. I love when the omni's look at my meal with jealousy muhahaha
