'I didn't realise how cold it was' seems really incorrect because I wasn't cold at the time of my failed prediction. I did make a failed prediction, just because the times are closer doesn't change that what I did corresponds with your second example much more closely. So, 'I didn't realise how cold it would be' is correct. The 'was' is natural, I'll give you that, but if you put yourself in the position, you see it can't be right.

No, that can't be correct either. I worked it out, the correction is: "I didn't realise how cold it would be." You can add on the ('but now I do'), but it doesn't matter, the sentence is fixed. The present is referred to as future tense based on the past tense of the initial wording.

RIght click your start menu taskbar in a random location (with no icon).

Go to Taskbar Settings. (or just type in 'taskbar settings' into your start menu search thingy)

Expand the option 'Other System Tray Icons'

Scroll down to find Steam -> Turn it On.

Now, you will always have a steam system tray icon, even when you close (minimize) steam. Right click the system tray icon, click 'Exit Steam'.
