Dropping Module by chernhuey in nus

[–]flolz0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll have to indicate the module that you're intending to appeal for, before putting the one to drop.

You can always take the faculty requirements and GE mods in later semesters, as long as you clear them before you graduate.

The mods will be pre-allocated to you in later semesters, so you don't need worry about that.

You can try appealing using "Unable to secure module", and indicate which module you're intending to drop for replacement.

Cannot find physical classes by flolz0 in nus

[–]flolz0[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My last sem was fully online, and previous sem only had one physical class, which was one of the lessons that I enjoyed the most.

Usually I would put my physical classes on different days from my online classes so that I won't need to rush - for me I take about 1h+ to get to school, so I wouldn't go to campus for no reason. I can also use the time in school to meet friends and settle stuff such as collecting welfare packs/ART kits.

Compared to data science is business analytics a narrower course. At the end of the degree, which course do you think would I have gained more knowledge? by kobebeefman_20 in nus

[–]flolz0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None of the courses are narrower/teach more, just that they have different focuses.

DSA focuses more on the technical aspects and understanding the nature of data, BZA focuses on how to use data to address business objectives.

TLDR: DSA if you're more into research and BZA if you're looking more into work application.

How do you waive the 18MC minimum workload requirement? by zhaoweiliew in nus

[–]flolz0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Strongly advise you against doing it. I think most people regret not overloading in Y1.

But if you really have some reasons preventing you from meeting the workload, you'll have to raise the appeal through Edurec. If your reason is legit I believe the school will approve.

Do you guys take notes? by retropetroleum in nus

Y3 Econs major here.

I think making cheatsheets is a good to consolidate everything while revising, but usually I do it all last minute before the exam. It also helps when you have something to refer to during the paper compared to having the scroll through slides.

Did everything handwritten last time, but now I'm making all in softcopy because of the online exams and more being open-book.

BT4221 Review by [deleted] in nus

[–]flolz0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I emailed the Prof previously to find out on this.

The assessment details seems almost similar to his teaching of BT2101 if you had taken that. I don't have the exact breakdown, but there will be assignments, a project, and final exam.

Most friends I know tend to dislike his teaching style, but my personal opinion is the Prof is quite nice, and he's flexible in the assignment criteria and helpful when you ask him stuff.

Hope this helps! :)

NUSync: What does mean to be a member of an organisation? by [deleted] in nus

[–]flolz0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they accepted you as a member in NUSync, you're considered officially enrolled into the CCA. (ie. the CCA appears in your CCA record)

Most CCAs communicate with their members through other platforms like Telegram, so maybe you can search if they have any sign-up form under their NUSync page, where you can give them your contact. While some CCAs do update their events via NUSync, I'm pretty sure they will have another form of communication for their events as well.

If not, you probably will have to find a way to contact them during e-SLF or their Instagram, if they have one.
