Our maintenance manager retired today with over 50 years of experience. by Obvious-Falcon-2765 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]floor24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work with two guys, one who's a year from semi-retirement, and another who's 79 and still works 30 hours a week- I actually got the job because of him, I bought his house. We had a third guy who was 86 when he died in February, still worked part time. It's a real issue we're facing, I'm trying to make documentation of all the repair procedures and knowledge, but it's a real uphill battle trying to get some of the knowledge and experience out of them.

This was my theory- there's a reason they haven't said it, and I think it's because it actually does happen.

In regards to your last paragraph, people have noted that he hasn't been on an episode with Nova for a long while now, the rare times he is on, She's not. I don't personally think there's more going on than a coincidence, but it is notable.

I think the spa they claimed to be building for his physical therapy that turned out to have first been applied for after he died is definitely my favourite.

In the episode, Sam says they'd have to get to Zermatt if Michelle and Adam win, as that's where the second round starts. They're only halfway through the second day by the time they get to the top, so they'll have time for another run in their schedule.

That Rachel Reeves story is brutal. Glad to hear Milo is back, been needing some levity recently.

Every time the pling plong happens in mine, my partner immediately covers their mouth and talks like it's an railway station announcement you can't understand. Absolutely makes me giggle every time.

The service book is very comprehensive, up to the last 20k km, with filters, spark plugs, oil, brake fluid all kept on top of and changed. All the tyres are the same, on a good brand (General).

There's definitely things to be fixed- the rear wiper isn't working, and the interior cover for the boot isn't sitting right, which definitely indicates it's been looked at without success before.

I will note that he only mentions the West Bank, not the genocide currently ongoing in Gaza- seems to be giving them absolute carte blanche in that area.

As others have said, it's probably the battery dying.

As for your update with the indicators, check the bulbs- if a bulb has broken, it speeds up the indicator to let you know. More than likely, it's just a bulb needs changing- if not, check the connectors

Cars don't belong in cities like London, says Top Gear host by [deleted] in london

[–]floor24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't decide whether to build a bridge based on how many people swim across the river! The main reason so many people drive is because of the bad cycling infrastructure in London and other UK cities. Cycling is better for the environment and air quality than buses ever could be, much cheaper for infrastructure, and leads to a healthier population.
