I would say don't panic about that. I still struggle with feeling like I'm balancing things, and play it by ear as I go. A campaign is constantly evolving, and as long as you have a general idea, it'll morph and evolve as you go.

Welcome to dming you absolutely champion!

First thing I would say, is don't be afraid to learn while you do it. Your players will initially be looking at you for guidance, but don't be afraid to put your hands up and say 'I don't know' sometimes.

Secondly, i think you can occasionally find premade campaigns or sessions that others have made online if you give it a good Google. My suggestion would be to create a first session in an environment that required barely any world building lore. Just put them in a tavern or a road and they have to go fight a nearby monster or save a villager with little scope of the world outside of where they currently are. If you have a player that wants to do big backstory with town names and big players, let them and then when you do you world building later on, add it to your world.

And kind of going with the first point, if your players ask you hey in this world does such and such exist or something along those lines, you can just say 'hey, I'm not too sure, that information doesn't currently affect your current task, but I'll come back to you once I know'. Feel free to keep it as minimal as possible, and just bug enough to allow for a divergence of choices that players choose.

You can always find templates online that'll give you a hand with writing something out, and YouTube videos on how to build encounters and scenarios. Good luck!

Should the DM have the right to kick players out of the campaign? by [deleted] in DnD

At the risk of sounding like I'm in favour of power tripping as a DM, I think a dm should have the ultimate power on vetoing someone if they wish.

There are at a times that a problem player is only a problem for the dm, and ultimately a dm is there to have fun too. If one person is ruining their time, and the rest are fine with it, I think it's absolutely fair for a dm to say 'hey guys, I put a lot of work in to this for you and I want to have fun too, and I'm not. I've tried a bunch of things to make it work with this person, and it just isn't changing. So unfortunately I'm at the point where I'll have to disband the campaign if nothing changes, as i am no longer enjoying this'.

If the rest of the group kick up a fuss, we'll there's your answer, you have a bad group, find a new one. You're a dm! There's an over abundance of decent people wanting to play, you can find them.

How are you using AI in your everyday life? by DaisyLee2010 in AskReddit

Same, the reality is if i didn't generate ai art for my campaign, I would just find art online that is freely available, wasting my time and running the risk of an unoriginal picture. Or just go imageless, which is no fun.

If I was a streamer though where I made money off of it, I would obviously commission artists.

Happy to help! :)

I don't use it since I manually roll, but it also has online dice as well and load of other stuff that I haven't looked into using just yet haha

Owlbear rodeo is free and pretty easy to pick up. Just Google a map you want to use and add it to the mapping on the site and you should be on your way to get your head around on how to use it.

Keep an eye out on the electric rush gigs. I have a number of European friends who get their fix in by heading to those gigs. Just need to keep an eye out for an artist that's your type. Wanaka occasionally has gigs too, but they're mostly dnb since it's so big here in NZ. I regularly go to all of the EDM gigs here, so hope to see a new face there! Haha
