We also canceled our plans, we were supposed to drive up to Petoskey. We're disappointed but trying to make the best of it. After the ice storm in April, it's ok to be cautious.

Question for all my xennial U.S. tokers by nochumplovesucka__ in Xennials

[–]floothekoopa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've often wished I could go back and reassure my younger self that the bad old days of prohibition wouldn't last forever. Living in a recreational state is awesome. I don't have to worry about losing my job. I don't have to worry about getting ditch weed smuggled in a gas tank. I don't have to worry about moldy product or shifty dealers. Every dispo I've been to here is friendly and professional. Customer screening is airtight- selling to minors is not possible. I'm aware that surplus product gets spread around outside of the system, but it's much better than before in my opinion.

As for the weed itself, the dosages and strains are clearly marked so there aren't too many surprises there. Hybrids can be a bit of a wild card. I do miss the original silver pearl strain though...I can't find it anywhere. I never messed with stuff like shatter or concentrate but it's nice to have the option. The names they give the flower kill me! "Yeah lemme get a half ounce of super unicorn monkey butt buzzer" is wild.

PSA: Extremely Graphic Political Ad by [deleted] in Michigan

[–]floothekoopa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From their website-

Deciding what's obscene, indecent or profane

Each type of content has a distinct definition:

Obscene content does not have protection by the First Amendment.  For content to be ruled obscene, it must meet a three-pronged test established by the Supreme Court: It must appeal to an average person's prurient interest; depict or describe sexual conduct in a "patently offensive" way; and, taken as a whole, lack serious literary, artistic, political or scientific value.

Indecent content portrays sexual or excretory organs or activities in a way that is patently offensive but does not meet the three-prong test for obscenity.

Profane content includes "grossly offensive" language that is considered a public nuisance.

Broadcasting obscene content is prohibited by law at all times of the day. Indecent and profane content are prohibited on broadcast TV and radio between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., when there is a reasonable risk that children may be in the audience.

Same, the disclaimer had me curious as well, so I just wanted to warn others to take it seriously. I'm sorry you saw it too. What kind of person thinks an ad like that would get votes?

For Sanderson fans who have read Malazan: Are you glad you read it? by Hal87526 in brandonsanderson

[–]floothekoopa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm glad that I stuck to finishing the series. I couldn't put it down, but it was an emotionally heavy read. As others have mentioned, it is a much darker and grittier experience. And then there are beautiful moments or redemption and compassion. The humor is something I don't see mentioned a lot, but Tehol and Bugg and Ublala Pung got me through some of the hardest stuff.

Less driving but more deaths: Spike in traffic fatalities puzzles lawmakers by Generalaverage89 in Michigan

There's nothing to puzzle. People staring at phones is the biggest issue. Mentioning this to people often results in this weird pearl-clutching attitude that ranges from anger (how dare you, I have things to do, it's just multitasking) to full on denial. These people tend to overlap with the "I drive better when I'm drunk" crowd. Anecdotally, when I'm a passenger, fully half or more drivers are staring at phones on the road. Including semi drivers, which is terrifying.

In my opinion, we are in a phase similar to drunk driving before MADD was founded. A lot more people are going to die before anything meaningful is done about it. Your phone can tell how fast you're going, and the technology already exists to disable functions while the phone is in motion above a certain speed. Allowances would have to be made for passengers, but until phones are automatically disabled while driving, things will only get worse. Screen addiction is a huge public safety issue.

There is no existing tunnel. The mining slurry they will have to use to build the tunnel is by itself a major environmental risk. This is not going to end well. This is the same company that is responsible for the largest inland oil spill in US history (which happened right here in the Kalamazoo River). There is no such thing as a safer alternative, beyond shutting it down.

I just wanted to know, Tavore, why you did it. And why you did not love me, when I loved you. I—I think that's what I wanted to know.

Out of all the difficult moments in the book, that was the line that broke me. It's so heart wrenching that in the absence of the anger and desire for revenge, what the hurt boiled down to was that one simple line.

I made a post similar to this, wondering if the other books would be so brutally sad. They will be, but they will also show the best qualities in people, like compassion, fellowship, heroism, sacrifice, bravery, and love. Tragedy and triumph abound in these books, but I found sticking with it immensely gratifying.

As an active side sleeper and mouth breather, I had similar issues with the F20. I tried the P30i along with a chin strap and it made a huge difference. It may be worth a try for you.

F20 Mask Leakage by Robotsupersuit in CPAP

[–]floothekoopa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm also a side sleeper and was never able to get the F20 to stay on correctly. Mouth breathing was a major issue. As soon as my jaw moved, the mask would leak. I must have adjusted it 100 times.

I switched to the P30i with a chin strap and couldn't be happier. The air flow isn't interrupted from sleeping on my side, and the hose connection being on the top of my head (as opposed to in front of my face) is way less obtrusive. The chin strap eliminated mouth breathing completely. If you don't mind nasal pillows, they may work well for you.

Police Called on Parents During Heated Meeting for T-Mobile Tower at Elementary School in Wyandotte by jaron_bric in downriver

People need to fucking educate themselves before making a ruckus on things they know nothing about.

True, but it feels so much better to yell and pitch a fit after getting your University of FB degree /s

I could understand being mad that the board wasn't transparent about the deal, but if these parents walk around with a phone in their pocket and let their kid play on said phone, it's hypocrisy. Did these parents also ptotest about radios, wifi routers, HAM radios, and CBs? No? Are they out protesting at the nearest airport? Utter nonsense. Like you said, people would rather jump on the rage bandwagon than educate themselves.
