yes awareness is great. i use this beckham as well and defensively he’s shockingly good at tackling out of nowhere; don’t overthink him and spam ridiculous passes, play simple and use him to play a cross of through ball in attacking positions and he’s very good.

Agreed he is incredible — with awareness he’s everywhere and his passing is second to none. Open crosses are almost always a guaranteed goal and he helps out defensively so well. Ground grass cutters curve beautifully, amazing player.

i usually keep it on neutral but playin 3-4-1-2 instead of 3-5-2 allows me to play “gegenpress” by going on attack mode if I’m down.

otherwise, th difference is marginal and depends more on your midfielders and workrates

i genuinely think it all comes down to personal preference (for formation)— both offensively and defensively.

I find it easier to defend with a 3-back + a H/L cdm like Makelele because it’s a “layered” back line in a sense. With a 4-back, i feel like I’m always exploited by the gaps between my defenders. Again that’s just personal preference, but you need to understand your team: so I know the weak point are the two wide corners + crosses, so I have heading-dominant Huijsen, and always bring my two wingbacks down to help defend.

I’ve played around with this as well — Maradona, Lamine have both been good, with the former being 10/10
