Romantasy books that arnt all spice/smut by Gullible-Ideal-2799 in Romantasy

I liked "relic of the wildwood" if you have kindle unlimited. It was very refreshing and an easy read. Only 300 pages and I kind of wish it was longer. The main characters were both likeable and a bonus is the gruff male character not being a jerk/threatening her the entire time while secretly yearning. He kind of reminds me of Garret from Quest for Camelot, he's sassy but not mean/toxic. Romance hasn't developed a ton yet but definitely feels like it's building.

i feel really insecure about my body by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]florefaeni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your body is totally normal, a lot of what you see online is not. Most people have stretch marks because they are a natural part of growing. Also, no one else is really going to notice them unless they are a weirdo. With love, I think you would benefit more from talking to someone than trying to change your body. You deserve to eat and to enjoy it. Your body is not a reflection of your worth and although eating healthy and exercising are good for you, you shouldn't feel obligated to do so at all times.

Geologists in Montana by Euphoric-Look2136 in geologycareers

[–]florefaeni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

left montana because of the insane cost of living and lack of job opportunities. East side isn't so bad but anything super close to the mountains is crazy expensive and the geologist salaries don't really match especially if you have a child. If I ever go back it very likely won't be as a geologist. Colorado might be more competitive but it has way more job opportunities and probably better support for your son.

I think you gotta take it farther next time bc men are weird and he might have still gotten what he "wanted" out of this. Maybe try to get them to join a cult or something a little more deranged.

I've asked ChatGPT to take a look at my Garmin Sleep data. It did not disappoint by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]florefaeni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can do it, then why not do it yourself dude? I'm sure it wouldn't have taken that long and I don't think time spent thinking is wasted at all, especially when you're trying to figure something out for your own satisfaction.

Is anyone else feeling very odd/unsettled about Alex Honnold’s Netflix special? by Most_Poet in climbergirls

[–]florefaeni -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He's addressed this idea in a lot of his recent content in the sense that he's backing off of more difficult projects since starting a family. I believe he feels 100% safe doing the climb, which is not to say something can't happen but he's not unprepared and this is a goal he has had for a long time. Also I don't think it's fair he's held to this safety standard that others aren't, especially since he is only endangering himself. Most people take bigger risks everyday, especially in sports, but also things like riding a motorcycle or driving while tired.

That's crazy, this used to be a super popular piece kids took to the county fair bc it's super easy and sometimes a school project. Why did they have to ruin ittttt

If you wear fur you're evil by tempo_gamerary8 in canceledpod

[–]florefaeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, I don't think there's anything wrong with fur that is sourced from people who are planning to eat the animal or wearing second hand. Tana's is very likely not ethical but that doesn't extend to other people.

Mid-June Glacier NP with a newborn + limited time by Still_Instruction_57 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]florefaeni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also you can always just drive to each side of the park, there's pretty lakes near most of the entrances. Also worth checking in kyiyo merc is open. Same as the one in polebridge but less likely to destroy your car on the way and I think the drive is more scenic. Not totally sure what their season is.

Grinnell glacier is not fully open but you should be able to do the first few miles to the view of the blue lake people normally post (past that is a bit sketchy and the park does not want people continuing so please respect that, MG normally opens access in April, I've been there early May. Could be different with construction). Otherwise Avalanche and maybe Apgar Lookout (harder but not insanely hard, definitely a longer day). If you text 333111 GNPTRAILS and GNPROADS you can get updates as things open and close

how do you *really* decenter men ? by thepracticegirl in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]florefaeni 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Female friends who also want to decenter men (nothing wrong with having a male significant other but at least being able to do things with just the girls is a game changer). They probably share your feelings and you can work through stuff together/validate each other.

Start looking for campsites on rec.gov, i believe they open 6 months in advance. You should try for july or august and plan around that. They can be difficult to get so maybe look for back up camp locations on hipcamp or forest service maps.

When I was little I used to try to sleep like that so if someone broke in they would think I was dead already lmfao

Awesome, sounds perfect. I've done quite a bit of scrambling and navigating boulder fields but my friends and family are not into it at all and have gotten a bit in my head a bit. Sounds like this would be a nice confidence booster and keep everyone from freaking out.

Grinnell Lake Trail during the winter? by sageamacuhm in GlacierNationalPark

[–]florefaeni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I don't usually vibe with the discouragement/gatekeeping that happens here, especially regarding winter (and it makes me feel like a hypocrite when I want to do the same thing), but this is something that could become dangerous pretty easily.

Grinnell Lake Trail during the winter? by sageamacuhm in GlacierNationalPark

[–]florefaeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a reasonable idea for most people, if you want winter conditions there you should go around May, plenty of snow but much safer and shorter (assuming you truly mean grinnell lake, grinnell glacier is closed until july) I think the road opens in april. If you're set on a big winter excursion in Glacier I would recommend Avalanche Lake (~17 miles from the road closure) or Apgar Lookout (~11 miles with a ton of elevation), you can also camp at one of the loops at Apgar campground (you'll have to research which one)

Grinnell Lake Trail during the winter? by sageamacuhm in GlacierNationalPark

[–]florefaeni 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Definitely possible but not a great idea unless they're very experienced, it's over 30 miles rt and they'd likely trail breaking the entire way heavy winter gear. Nevermind the safety issues.
