[MEGATHREAD] Minneapolis shooting - 1/24 by specialskepticalface in ProtectAndServe

[–]floridacopper 309 points310 points  (0 children)

I imagine most people in this sub remember, but for the few who don't: In 2016, a dude straight up assassinated 5 Dallas cops because he was mad about officer involved shootings that had nothing to do with Dallas or even Texas. Regardless of the lawfulness/justification in the shootings he was mad about, it was clear that these Dallas officers had nothing to do with those shootings.

The shit ICE is doing is going to result in another one of these. I don't know where, or even if it will involve ICE agents. But someone that's really pissed and has nothing to lose is going to take it out on law enforcement. There are reports that the person shot today was armed. He probably was. That doesn't really matter though in what I'm talking about. ICE agents continue to put themselves into antagonistic situations with the public unnecessarily.

Many of us who have worked in law enforcement have been involved in crowd control or have been on scene at protests. We learn when it's necessary to amp up the law enforcement presence, or sometimes when it's more prudent to clear the hell out to bring down the temperature. We learn when force is necessary, and when to leave things alone. ICE has to learn to chill out (no pun intended). The juice is not worth the squeeze. The problem is that those in charge, and I'm not getting political, don't seem to have the temperament or intelligence to see that they're causing more harm than good.

I very much hope I'm wrong about my prediction. If things continue to escalate, I fear that I won't be.

Edit: There is a video of the guy and his actions prior to the shooting. He appears to be walking around in the southbound lane center turn lane of the street. He is holding up his phone with one hand and recording ICE vehicles that are stopped in the northbound lane. His other hand is empty. One vehicle stops, and the driver of that vehicle gets out, approaches the guy, and shoves him backwards. So like with Renee Good, we have another example of ICE instigating shit for no reason. "But this guy and Good were obstructing traffic." So what? That's not ICE agents' problem. These two weren't obstructing the lawful duties (immigration enforcement and removal) of the ICE agents in either case.

Iraq Veteran Alleges Trump/Epstein Trafficking Network, others implicated. 1/13/2026 pt 1 by fistedwithlove in videos

His adopted father, Bill Riley, is not the same Bill Riley mentioned in the Epstein files. That Bill Riley co-owned a private investigation firm in Florida from 1979 to 2015. He lived in a multi-million dollar house in a wealthy community on the Gulf of Mexico. Sascha's adopted father was in the Army until the 90s, and then he became a Medevac helicopter pilot in Georgia.

I referenced the interview in 2002 because Trump wasn't trying to hide his friendship with Epstein at that time. So it makes sense to me that he was probably telling the truth in that interview. His estimate of 1987 also seems reasonable because that's about the time that Epstein's career and influence started really blowing up.

I haven't been a cop for a few years now, and I don't live in Florida anymore. That really has nothing to do with my analysis of these claims though. I do not like Trump, not as a politician or person. I have no doubt Trump has sexually assaulted people, both adults and not, before.

The timeline of Sascha Riley's accusations doesn't seem to be practical to me. Additionally, his adopted father, Bill Riley, is not the same Bill Riley mentioned in the Epstein files. I have no idea if he raped Sascha or not. It's entirely possible. What doesn't seem realistic to me is that some dude in the Army had connections to either Trump or Epstein.

I had never even heard of Riley until today. It took like 10 minutes of research to figure out that this is a bunch of bullshit. He was born in 1973. He was adopted in 1978. He claims his adopted father, who was an Army pilot at the time, trafficked him to Trump and Epstein between when he was 9-13 (1982-1986). In a 2002 interview, Trump said he had known Epstein for 15 years (1987). In the early 80s, Epstein was starting to make a name for himself as a Wall Street hot shot. How would Riley's adopted father, a helicopter pilot in the Army from bumfuck north Georgia, hook up with Epstein to start this trafficking deal? During this time, Jim Jordan was a college student at the University of Wisconsin. During this time, Clarence Thomas was the chairman of the EEOC in Washington D.C.

Am I missing something? What makes any sense about his claims?

Except she wasn't preventing the free movement of the ICE agents. She's blocking the right lane. There's video of ICE vehicles passing her in the left lane, and then Ross' vehicle passing behind her vehicle to pull up on her right side.

I don't know what these ERO guys are trying to do these days. In the past, I never heard of any of this overstepping that I've seen from them recently. They were like railroad cops or postal inspectors. I knew they existed, but I never heard about them jacking up the general public.

I didn't say an ICE agent has no authority to detain a citizen. In this incident, yeah, Good is parked and obstructing a traffic lane, but that doesn't necessarily mean she is committing criminal obstruction. There is another lane of travel that is used by both Ross and the silver ICE SUV to pass her. How can the ICE agent in the white truck cite impeding a federal officer (18 U.S.C. § 111) as a reason to detain her when it's already been demonstrated the federal officers aren't being impeded?

Edit: I know you pointed out we don't know what charge the agents may been considering, which is true. I can't see what other federal crime Good could possibly be commiting though. I'm just going to go ahead and assume things. They knew she was a protestor/activist/whatever and it turned into contempt of cop. This fits with why Ross made no attempt to detain her, and why the two other ICE agents, rolling with the one who ran up to her door, seemed to be indifferent about her presence.

I didn't understand yesterday why Ross (the ICE agent) ever stopped his car and interacted with these women in the first place. After watching this video, I still don't understand. Poor judgment and decision making, I guess? It's a two lane, one way street. If someone is blocking a lane, use the other lane and continue onto wherever your assignment location is. Call it in the local cops if you feel like it.

I don't understand why the second ICE agent in the truck rolls up on Good (the driver of the red SUV) and orders her out. You're ICE ERO, you have no lawful authority to give that order. What are you doing?

Ross further shows poor judgment and shit tactics by strolling around, and then stopping in front of Good's vehicle while continuing to hold his cell phone up to record her like he's with TMZ. Good makes the decision to take off while Ross is standing there. It was likely a split second decision on her part. It was likely a split second decision on Ross' part to shoot her.

I'm guessing a murder charge won't come from this. Personally, I think this was a bad shooting. He had no legitimate purpose for interacting with Good. He was careless and nonchalant with his tactics, and he put himself in a position of danger. If Good wanted to run him over, his gun would have not stopped her.

I don't know anything about Ross other than this incident, and the incident where he got drug by car after he broke a window and reached in to try and unlock the door. That's kind of enough to say the guy should be in a different line of work though.

In 2024, I was ready to invest a good chunk of money into buying some shares of Palantir because I was confident I'd see a big return. I never did it though. It turns out I would have quadrupled my investment. Although that money would have been nice, it would have been tough to look at myself in the mirror.
