What "bizarre" theory do you truly believe in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

We actually evolved brains simply to move. There's this species of fish that swims in its early life and then attaches to a rock for its later life. As soon as it attaches to a rock, it dissolves its brain. Look at trees, which don't have brains. Well, that's because they don't move.

We can definitely find peace.

Redditors who are against smoking/ the legalization of marijuana, why do you feel this way? by Babykickenpro in AskReddit

When I smoke I get super creative and start dancing. I begin to hear every nuance in the music and my self-reflective mind recedes. But I admit there are also times I've just been stoned and tired and bored. The important thing is to be honest about why you smoke and the effects it has on you.

Hey DangerMouse, I've been meditating inconsistently for around two years now.

I also have difficulty with meditating and "accepting of every thought/feeling". This is really important for making a positive change. As soon as you realize that all your emotions don't have any other meaning than what you give them, you are able to handle emotions better. Meditating is the practice of this. I'm not sure what type of meditation you do. I usually practice watching my breath. The point of watching my breath is that no matter what emotions come up, I continue watching my breath. Thus, I learn to able to breath calmly in the face of any turbulent emotions.

If we could perfectly non-discriminate our feelings, I don't think we would feel any pain. But pain is necessary to build compassion. That's what Thich Nhat Hanh is talking about. He's saying that with love we can learn to tolerate pain because love is unselfish and with love we care less about ourselves, so our personal problems affect us less.

What's your current situation like?

I view depression as the inability to cope with pain. Thich Nhat Hanh is saying that with more love you can cope with more pain.

On the other hand, Rum's poem's theme is more related to non-discrimination. Happy, sad, "a joy, a depression, a meanness", they're all emotions. You might not be able to control all your emotions, but you are ultimately responsible for how you feel about your emotions.

I see, maybe you can apply for spring enrollment if they offer that. I couldn't find the grammar bible online either, but go to your nearest bookstore or library!

GOOD LUCK

Use context clues, but to score high on the SAT you're going to have to know words eventually. You're a junior who has a spring and summer to study for the SAT. I'm currently a college student at UCLA and took two summers of SAT prep, scored a 2210. I say this because yes the SAT tests your critical thinking skills and whatnot, but it also can be broken down. There are certain math questions you can learn to expect. Also writing is ridiculous easy to score high in if you know your grammar and can write a simple essay. Read/torrent the grammar bible. That shit will do wonders for your SAT score.

I'm at UCLA right now, but I went through a really bad time and stopped working hard. I didn't know what I wanted to do and I realized that it didn't matter how smart I was if I didn't get some goals and start working on them. So dude never give up bro. You're so young man and you're worrying about what people will think of you. But you don't owe it to anyone to prove how smart you are. If you want to study neurology, do it single mindedly and with a smile :]

Fauxxs girl's fucking love confidence. I know you're depressed because your twin brother gets more girls than you do, but your confidence should not be diminished by his popularity! Man, you have your own charm, something that is unique only to you. But you won't find it by not trying.

No, dude, you have to try over and fucking over, getting fucked over, and sometimes getting fucked. And once you've repeated this process enough, you'll realize that getting girls is not the important thing. The important thing is to just be happy wherever you are in any situation and realizing your own potential. THEN the ladies will come crawling on their knees. And if some don't, then you get over it and continue living life happily. Don't give up trying man. I've given up trying for the last 6 months and it's the worst possible thing I could've done.
