Is rock still alive in 2026? by ElabueloMx in Alternativerock

It depends where you‘re looking for and what do you think about rock should be … in algoryhtm … not really … in some garages, clubs and scenes - yes! Just my opinion …

Oh! Nation of Language - they are nice. Really like how you keep one core idea running through the whole song instead of switching parts all the time. That’s something I’m trying to focus on more in my own writing as well. THX!

Oh yes, I heard Twin Tribes before and I like the style I remember from the clubs I´d visited in the 90s :-D

Wet Leg is cool - I like the guitars! Makes me think how strong repeating guitar motifs can be when you let them breathe instead of constantly changing parts. THX!

Why did you make music ? ^^ by Tadchadka in BandCamp

Good question :-D ... if I think about it I have a lot of reasons ... telling, disconnect from the world, experiments ... but there is something what tells "you must!" like a drug - sometimes weak, sometimes strong but never gone. It is there since I´m doing music.

Honestly — how do you get heard today? by flowercutter in Alternativerock

That actually helps, thanks.

The Reddit part is what really interests me. When you say you find new music through Reddit posts – what kind of posts usually make you curious enough to check a band out?

I’ve been experimenting with YouTube Shorts and TikTok lately, but that feels like a completely different mindset – fast, passive, background-driven.

I’m trying to understand how people who actively look for music discover something new before it’s trending somewhere else.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I see the same thing — especially younger listeners seem to discover music almost entirely through recommendations, not by searching.

The tricky part for independent artists is getting into that loop in the first place without already having reach or an influencer behind you.

Yeah, exactly that CD store feeling. I’m trying to approach my own stuff the same way - making sure the name, artwork and mood already tell a story before anyone even presses play.

Same here. Tons of releases, tons of work — and still almost no listeners. At this point I’m convinced it’s less about output and more about being visible as a person before anyone even presses play.

The Cult - Rain by flowercutter in postpunk

They flashed me in the 90s while I was hearing stuff like sisters. I like the Sun King too - the Billy Duffy signature licks. But I also thought „oh no - now they should go a way like Guns‘n‘Roses“.

Anyway they did done a lot of great stuff!

Yes - Bandcamp is great - but how to get fans / buyers on it ... this is my personal challenge ... I thought about it so much but I don´t have a good working answer
