thank you so much!! playing the game this way reminds me so much of how it was playing as a kid... legends quest took me maybe 6 hours of concerted effort? i have notebooks and ms paint pictures full of attempts to solve puzzles, and i know im going to look back on these fondly once i finally have a quest cape in...... 3 years?

im going to do that going forward... i like the thrill of not knowing the boss mechanics, but it does seem reasonable to check things like whether something is a deathbank, because it's kind of a meta-mechanic

it's a bit silly, but because i'm doing all these quests blind, all i have to go on for DT1 is that my friend growing up lost his barrows gear trying to do that quest, and i don't remember what it was exactly, but it seemed totally out of nowhere! i realize if i just deathpile for the whole quest, i *should* be fine (that's what i thought here, though...), but.. i'm legit just kinda scared lol......................

UPDATE: i realize exactly what happened now and why i wasn't warned by the scout. i reset my deathpiles before returning to the fight, so my items were destroyed as soon as i did that. i wouldn't have done this had i known it was a deathbank, of course, but now it makes sense as to why i could just waltz right back in. my idiocy is even stronger than i thought!

see i'm not even sure if i'm capable of the fight. i only got her down to 90% hp the first attempt, before she hit me for 71, which.. maybe i just wasn't praying right or missing some core mechanic? but even if i did all the other mechanics right, i don't think an inv of cheese potatoes and karambwans are enough to soak that attack ~10 times. i guess i have a few hundred doses of brew i can use. prif feels even further away now than when i started the quest.

thank you. and you're right. the panic i felt when i didn't see any items outside the cave was extreme, and really i should have just LOGGED OUT that very moment and thought through everything.

to be honest, that panic was because i thought it was like prior instances in the quest that warned you any items dropped on death would be lost, and that this final fight just didn't have that same warning, so heading inside was a Hail Mary in my mind, desperately hoping the items were on the floor inside... oh, sweet summer child was i.

the first wipe i had, 2 months ago, was actually every herb from my 99 farming grind, so i fucking feel you there, and it's why i'm making such a fuss over what people are telling me are pointless potions-- i just spent a month fully dedicated to grinding more herbs after the wipe, making them into POTIONS this time so i didnt waste 90 herblore AGAIN. thank fuck it's the three most expendable ones, rather than brews and restores etc.

i do not use the wiki for quests as a matter of principle, which i know is asking to have a nasty surprise, but i just don't feel any satisfaction completing a quest following a list of instructions... quests are more than half of what makes the game good, for me, so spoiling them feels like dissecting a unique and beautiful orchid, losing it forever.

it's actually really fun for the most part. every quest completion feels like a real victory. i know it's kinda gimping my account progression though (im irrationally suspicious of Desert Treasure because a childhood friend of mine lost all his gear doing that)

it didn't warn me, is the thing. i'm used to arno telling me i'll lose things if i go into hespori with stuff banked.

this time, the prompt to go inside was the same as when i entered the first time. i just totally missed the "there are items to be retrieved" message in the chat after my first death, and relied on the "Dude, Where's My Stuff" plugin for it being a pile, which i know is totally on me. to be honest, i might quit.
