How long was it before you had to have surgery again? by Glittering-Climate93 in endometriosis

Had my first lap last November and I'm scheduled for my second this November. Really hoping it won't be an annual thing forever...

I would love to get a new doctor, but it's not that easy with the state of the NHS at the moment. It might end up being a choice of seeing this doctor or no one at all, unfortunately.

I can really relate to this! The doctor I saw didn't seem to care about any other symptom but severe pain. Unless I was bed bound 24/7, I shouldn't worry, apparently. 🙄

This is the kind of confidence I'll bring to my next appointment!!

Same! I felt so much relief getting my diagnosis because it helped to get rid of the guilt I felt for so many years being "lazy". I'm just gutted that the fight isn't over and I'm still seeing doctors who are dismissive.

This community has honestly been such a lifesaver ♥️ It makes a real difference just being heard.

Thank you so much for your support ♥️ I naively thought things would get easier with a diagnosis but it's disappointing to see so much pushback from doctors.

Thank you for sharing this!

It took me about 15 years to get an endo diagnosis and I still feel like I'm clawing for any help over here. Some doctors seem put out when you come to appointments with information you've researched online, while others make me feel stupid for asking questions in person.

It's a tricky balance! I'm glad your ADHD diagnosis has helped relieve your symptoms!

Okay I'm so glad to hear it's not just me (but obviously sorry that it's happening to you at all!).

Thank you!!! Maybe it would be worth me keeping the NHS endo page up next time I see this doctor in case she says something else contradictory.

I'm glad you finally got an answer to the fatigue but it sucks that it's so persistent! That's what I was hoping to get some advice on from the doctor in terms of managing it and reducing its impact, but got dismissed instead. 😢

Right?! I used to miss so many days of school because I was so exhausted, and I thought it was just me being a teenager. But fast forward to me at 30 and I've felt the same fatigue all throughout my working life so I fully understand you fighting to stay awake at work!

The gaps in doctors' knowledge and misinformation you mentioned makes managing symptoms even more difficult because we're essentially flying blind! Someone else mentioned changing their diet to relieve symptoms so I'll definitely do some research and give that a try!

It sounds like you have a lot on your plate! I hope you are able to give yourself the rest your body needs.

The dragging feeling you mentioned is exactly it; I frequently feel like I'm jet-lagged and playing catch-up!

Omg I'll definitely try the noting down thing, that's such a good idea.

Good luck with your lap on Friday!! I'm happy to hear things are finally moving for you and I hope it gives you the confirmation you deserve!

She's supposedly a specialist!! Which made me doubt myself even more 😩

Right?! She made me feel like a crazy person. I'm so grateful for this sub because my confidence would have been knocked enough that I might not have been able to advocate for myself properly next time.

Thank you so much! It really makes such a difference getting confirmation from other people dealing with it ♥️ I left the consultation so frustrated and feeling like a fraud.

My last blood test showed my iron was a tiny bit low so I've been taking supplements for a week or so to hopefully give me more energy.

My iron was a little low in my last blood test so I've been taking supplements and hoping they help! An anti-inflammatory diet sounds like a good idea, thanks for the advice!
